Re: The Chmmr Avatar

AI is bad even at just using the Chmmr's tractor beam. It'll constantly hold it down even when fuel is empty, when it usually works better in smaller bursts. Also its tendency to always directly chase with heavy ships is bad. Chmmr actually takes some skill to use well, but playing either side of th...

Re: IS THERE A WAY I CAN PLAY SC 1 vs others on the net?

Also UQM's source is known for being very hard to follow and work with. There are a decent number of differences between SC1 and SC2's melee that affect the balance. The arena is smaller and the Androsynth blazer form is harder to control, for example, so the hybrid solution Death 999 mentioned stil...

Re: IS THERE A WAY I CAN PLAY SC 1 vs others on the net?

No strategic element… I'd definitely like to see any of those SC1-clone projects brought up to playability. I wonder if any of them left source code that could be actually useful. OR… this is a little wild, but… What if someone modified UQM so it could take a command line argument to start up direc...

Re: Sequels strife

Brad, First of all I will believe you have good intentions and don't want you to be kicked out. I'm not a lawyer so I am not going to make speculate on things like the Ur-Quan Masters other than to say Stardock is glad it exists and is supportive of that effort and will never take any action to inte...

Re: In the present day and time, are Syreen still acceptable

So, card-carrying social justice warrior here, but I think removing the only explicitly female-coded species/character you can directly speak to (if I remember correctly) in the original game would be the wrong way to go. The way the Syreen were portrayed was always pretty tacky frankly -- it's not...

Re: Sequels strife

So someone dug up the original Atari court proceedings. I'm not a lawyer but at first glance it does seem to support F&P's argument: https://www.resetera.com/posts/1739129/ Buyer agrees to purchase...all of such Seller’s right, title and interest in, to and under the following (the “Purchased Assets...

Re: Sequels strife

It's rather hard to believe the line that Stardock wasn't either pushing to include elements from the old series or putting some kind of pressure on Paul and Fred, if P&F felt their only recourse was legal action. They weren't. Stardock's constant position for a long time (like since 2014 at least)...

Re: Origins Melee Beta

Well, I will say this: things have improved in the past few weeks. There are still issues to work out, but Stardock is listening to feedback and I'm more hopeful than I was before. I may have been too judgmental at first - the first couple of builds were (and in some ways still are) earlier and roug...

Re: Interview with Fred and Paul on Ghosts of the Precursors

You're encountering them on foot in Mass Effect, on planets or at least inside space stations. This is an important difference, because it means the location of NPCs is fixed - Mass Effect has a space setting but the combat and most other gameplay is not directly in space. Having ship encounters in ...

Re: In the present day and time, are Syreen still acceptable

While not every race is returning, they probably won't be removed. If no one else, Talana basically has to be in with the frame story at the end of SC2. The Syreen can be toned down a bit without repeating SC3's awful design or completely changing the character. Just give them a form-fitting dress o...
