Re: A discord server?
Ok, thanks for the info. I just want to hang out with actual fans of the Star Control universe. Just reading what happened at UQM I don't feel comfortable in any environment where Stardock may be administrating.

Re: A discord server?
Well okay I guess a more straightforward question is if the administration is in any way related to Stardock. I want to connect with fans of the original series and don't want to participate in any format hosted by that company at this time.

Re: A discord server?
Is this associated with UQM / Paul and Fred fandom? I assume it is but thought it would be wise to ask.Serosis wrote: ↑Fri Jan 25, 2019 6:34 pm Replying to Tiberian,

Re: Sequels strife
Yeah sorry that didn't read well. But indeed it would be a "great" outcome for them since they did actually steal their ideas and content for Origins. What I was implying was "they would be lucky to even get this...".

Re: Sequels strife
That email will hurt Stardock even more. Even if the court finds that SC:O is not infringing SC2 copyrights, the court might deny damages for the faulty DMCA, because the e-mail basically told FF and PR that Stardock will use all aliens and settings from SC2, and that therefore Origins is infringin...

Re: Sequels strife
Gamedaily has an opinion about this too, but apparently they think GotP would be done under Activision's umbrella. Anyway, their opinion abbreviates as "Too late for an effective DMCA, wrong timing for maximum damages/financial influence, and the DMCA also seems to be abusing the procedure of using...

Re: Sequels strife
It's a modest early victory as we start to move into the legal mid-game. It reduces Stardock's income, and thus puts somewhat more financial pressure on them, but they got a full quarter of sales out of SC:O, which should have taken some of the pressure off. It would have been a bigger deal if they...

Re: Sequels strife
An interesting read, but in the bigger picture it does not mean anything. Reading the factual background it does show the court recognizes, understands, and supports the chronology as we do. That seems pretty significant. Page 3 line 17: As far as Defendants recall, Ford “wrote all of the code for ...

Re: Ghosts of the Precursors Theory
This is a rather long and detailed theory! I am unsure about the tie in with the other fantasy universe. Doesn't seem like it would be an authority I'd look towards for potential new lore. I'm literally just hitting the Orz scenes again on my bajillionth playthrough decades later. I never felt they ...
