TERMINOLOGY
A fairly large number of unusual terms, phrases
and place-names appear in the Star Control games - some of these are explained here, with
as much information provided as is necessary / available. A note on tense: since
this guide spans all three games, the tense is bound to contradict at times.
Basically, this is all written in the present tense, except where something occured outside
the games. That doesn't make sense, does it?

Excrutiators - Ur-Quan pain devices,
used to throw off Dnyarri control.

desruction of Syrea.
Glilandy - the homeworld of the
Dnyarri.
Grand Master Planet Eaters - an Umgah
prank, directed towards the Spathi.
Green Eye of Dogar - The star around
which the Ilwrath homeworld orbits.

- Hall of Everlasting Peace and Forebearance -
Headquarters of the first Alliance.
High Provost - High
"Commander" of Earth.
Home Deus - "The Godly
Men". A religious order formed by Jason Macbride in 2019.
Homeworlds - the planet a species
originated from.
Hyperwave - a method of communication
that transmits through HyperSpace.

Iccamullon - Huge, blue-flowered
plant. Native to Vela 2.
Insectoid - the Ilwrath are insectoid
beings.
Inter-dimensional Fatigue - a field
in which the Androsynth were conducting experiments before their disappearance.

Kessari - the name of the quadrant of
space around the Galactic core.
Killmaster 18 - an Umgah prank,
directed towards the Spathi.

Lasfax - Long distance Facsimile
communications.
Lalee'lay - commonly appended second
half of the name given to the Arilou by the Celts.
Libixx - Red-brown "winged
rabbits". Unintelligent species native to Vela 2.

Planetary Siege Units (PSU) - Ur-Quan Dreadnought spacecraft.
Planetfall - landing on a planet.
Portal Spawner - device used to
generate a portal which leads to and from QuasiSpace.
- ProtoQuotoSynthetic Reconstruction - Ur-Quan method
of reconstructing data on the biological and technological status of alien species.
- Psionic - the Syreen, the Arilou and the Dnyarri all
boast psionic powers.
Q
Quardmaster - Ur-Quan philosopher.
Quasispace - An alternative
dimension, bathed in a dull green light for some unknown reason. Utilised by the
Arilou for space travel; also contains the only access point to their homeworld.

SSRII - Synthetic Special
Reconstruction, Intergalactic Intelligence. A division of Star Control.
Secretary of Space - Extremely
high-ranking Alliance personnel.
Source - Slylandro gas giant.
Source of Juffo-Wup - Mycon
homeworld.
Spathiwa - Spathi homeworld.
Starbase - artificial satellite
around a planet, which is commonly used as a staging ground for spacecraft.
Starbucks - Currency of the old
Alliance.
Star Control - The military division
of Earth's government. Based in Geneva, Switzerland.
Supreme Council - The top-level
command structure of the first Alliance.
Symbionts - two or more species
living together in harmony, to mutual benefit.
Syrea - Devastated homeworld of the
Syreen. Also called "Syra" on several occasions.

Ultimate Evil, The - the feared great
enemy of the Spathi.
Ultron - mystical Precursor artefact
owned by the Utwig.

- Vlik - Supox homeworld. Meaning: Earth /
perfectly good nutritious dirt.
W
- Wimbli - No-one knows who or what Wimblie actually
is.
X
- Xenotechnology - Earth term - "alien
technology".
Y
- Yuffo - The name of the Spathi sun.
Z
- Zelnick - The commonly accepted surname of the hero
of SC2.
