- OBJECTIVES
- To further my experience as an evolutionary biologist, both field and laboratory, to gain first-hand knowledge of experimentation, and to assist with ever-increasing capability in these projects. Ultimately, to be capable to perform independent research and teach others these skills.

- Teaching: BIO 125L Essentials of Biology laboratory, 1996-1997, ZO 315L Parasitology laboratory, 1997-1998, BIO 106 Biology for the Modern World, 1998-1999. Author of laboratory manuals for both Parasitology and BIO 106.
- Worked as a nature counselor for Raleigh Parks and Recreation, instructing elementary school children in interactive lessons on insects, pond ecology, and forests.
- Graduated from Dale Carnegie Leadership Training Course with 100% attendance, Spontaneous Speaking Champion, and Highest Award For Achievement.
Research Experience
- Completing Master's thesis research on sexual selection in Melanoplus femur-rubrum (DeGeers) and M. bivittatus (Say), with focus on breeding color morphs of M. bivittatus and correlating mating length to both female choice and male investment.
- Set and checked small mammal live traps over the summer of 1994, gaining handling and tagging techniques.
- Completed a toxicology survey on the tributaries of the New River, Virginia, to evaluate the effects on the ecosystem by the wastewater effluent from an industrial plant, sampling and tallying the benthic community as well as analyzing the water chemistry using a field Hach Kit, 1993;

- Member in good standing of Phi Sigma, the National Biology Fraternity.
- S.C.U.B.A. certified, Open Water Diver 60m, August 11th, 1991.
- Eagle Scout, the highest award in scouting, February 23, 1988.
