To further my experience as an evolutionary biologist, both field and laboratory, to gain first-hand knowledge of experimentation, and to assist with ever-increasing capability in these projects. Ultimately, to be capable to perform independent research and teach others these skills.

• Completing Master's thesis research on sexual selection in Melanoplus femur-rubrum (DeGeers) and M. bivittatus (Say), with focus on breeding color morphs of M. bivittatus and correlating mating length to both female choice and male investment.
• Set and checked small mammal live traps over the summer of 1994, gaining handling and tagging techniques.
• Completed a toxicology survey on the tributaries of the New River, Virginia, to evaluate the effects on the ecosystem by the wastewater effluent from an industrial plant, sampling and tallying the benthic community as well as analyzing the water chemistry using a field Hach Kit, 1993;

• Outstanding Graduate Teacher award, 1998.
