Fibs&Brags In Outer Space!

Ye olde user manual!

Howdy howdy! This is Zipzop of ZFPN-Sports, your favourite sporting journalist!

Today, our service won't tackle Frungy, but we'll have here a special guest. Today's guest is the third most famous Earthling in the universe (After Fred Ford and Paul Reiche III)... say a big howdy to the great... Admiral Zelnick!

(Applauses!)

Good morning, admiral!

Hi, ZipZop. What's news?

No news, Admiral. For this evening let's talk about something totally different than Frungy. Is it ok for you?

No problems for me.

Good! So, since you're an expert about big, mean and menacing starship, and since recently we saw that the Vespasianii sector just collapsed, can you explain us what would you do if you were in that place?

First of all, I want to say that Vespasianii Constellation is very, very close to the uncharted zones of the core. So, If I were the poor captain who got marooned there I would be prepared for contacts with new races. Obviously, to avoid incidents similar to Captain Rand's Insult, I would use all my good manners, because we know that not many starfaring races are so tolerant. So, don't skimp patience and diplomacy, and you won't be attacked.

But we know that there are stupid races who like to attack other ships or something like. In this case what can we do?

My advice is this : You aren't at the OK Corral, so don't shoot like a crazy screaming "Yeeee-haaa"! This means certain death. Energy batteries are limited, so try to avoid every useless shot. In doing so you'll always have enough energy when you'll be on the enemy's tail to fry their butt.

Ow, I like it! It remembers me when during the war I tongued a VUX Intruder and.... well, it's another story. Go on.

Even on the planets you can find many nasty critters, especially in the desertic planets there are horrible and voracious monsters that look like undevolved Melnormes. If you have to kill them, for reasons unknown to me, my tactic is to land and return to the ship many and many times. And every while, save the game.

Save the.... what the heck are you saying? This isn't a funrom. This is real life! We can't save the game!

Whops! You're right. But last times I have played so many funroms that I confuse real life and games. You know, my wife now is a member of the Star Control Bureau For Alien Anatomic Study, and she's always out.

Oh, poor, lonely Zelnick.

(Laughters!)

Ok, ok, quiet people! So, since you love so much playing funroms, can you tell our public the keys used in the latest Star Control adventure game, Fibs&Brags In Outer Space?

Sure! Let me think... Ok... First of all, if you are about to puke because you've been too much on a rainbow world, the key combination to return to main menu is Alt-X.

Then... In Hyperspace the keys are:

Arrow keys to move your ship.
F2 to save the game.
F3 to load an old game.
F1 to bring up the help screen.
To enter common space, just position your ship on a star system.

In common space the keys are :

Arrow keys to move.
1, 2, 3, 4, 5 to speak with the crewmen.
9 to watch HyperTv.
Enter to land on a planet or to dock on a starbase (you must position your ship on the planet or on the starbase).
To re-enter hyperspace just exit from the Commonspace screen.

On the surface the keys are :

Arrow keys to move.
Space key to shoot the laser.
To get something (like a mineral), position the lander over the object you want to pick.
To get monsters' meat just shoot at them.

In combat the keys are :

Up arrow key to accelerate your module.
Down arrow key to brake your module.
Left and right arrow to steer left and right.
Control key to shoot the lasers.
Space key to use the Pocket Apocalypse(tm)!.

Do you feel satisfacted now?

Yes I do! Very well, Admiral, we thank you and hope to see you next time. Ok?

I will be there when you ask.

Ok, that's all for tonight, we'll see you tomorrow and... FRUNGY! FRUNGY! FRUNGY!
