Doesn't seem to work on my pc. It initializes (the screen turns black like it does when a program/game is about to roll the opening sequence) but then drops to desktop. I tried reinstalling to the same basic thing. :/

Any help my ears are wide open hehe

I didn't think the (original) PC version had any voice-acting at all.

AFAIK only the 3D0 version got voice acting
Oh God, please don't let me die today... tomorrow would be SO much better...

Hmmm, no intro slide show. I was really looking forward to this as the final point for me to introduce this project to my not-yet-sc-er friends and thought this release would have it. Can I also assume that the ending cinimatic is equilly missing? (Must do homework. No time to beat yet.)

However, nice to see a version that takes up such a relativly small spot on my hard drive now. Much nicer. Even with the voices and everything, barely there.

You could tell them to look here: http://www.classicgaming.com/starcontrol/sc2/sc2open.shtml
Who thought this would come in useful, except for Chad, way before us? :)
I used it for exactly what you would need for too, showing it to friends...

Hey, I know it wasn't in the original, but for the next version, could you guys put in a reverse function for the planetary lander? maybe key it to the down arrow?  I'd ask to do it myself, except I'm not that confident of my programming skills, thanks!

All I want in the next version is the intro and outro videos. Get that and I think the game'd be complete.
main(){char b[11]="\toooo.OOOO";int e=5,n,t=0;puts("\t123456789");puts(b);for(;n
&&strcmp("\tOOOO.oooo",b);puts(b)){n=getche();if(n-='0'){if(n>0&&n<=9&&(abs(n-e)
==2||abs(n-e)==1)){b[e]=b[n];b[n]='.';e=n;t++;}}}if(n)printf("\n%d moves\n",t);}

yeah. Then they'd be able to debug it all and THEN start with enhancing the story!

The Ur-Quan Masters 0.3 alpha Released!!!
« Reply #13 on: January 29, 2005, 11:01:15 am »
http://sc2.sourceforge.net/

Hello everyone,

It's been a while since the last release, but we're glad that today we're able to announce the next official release of The Ur-Quan Masters.
We're calling it 0.3, and it's still an alpha version. Nonetheless, it's very stable and it's got lots of improvements over the 0.2 release.
To name a few:
- We've got a much improved input system. For the user the main advantage is that it's much more configurable (though this still requires editing a config file).
- The content files stay in .zip files. This saves you over 13000 separate files on your hard disk, and greatly improves installing speed.
- The number of save game slots has been extended to 50.
- You can get a conversation summary when talking to aliens, like the PC version of Star Control 2 had.
- The much-loved PC out-takes are waiting for you when you finish the game.
- There are 2 additional ship slots for your Melee fleet, for a total of 14, which not entirely coincidentally is how many the PC version of Star Control 2 had.
- We've fixed lots of bugs.
You can find the much longer, complete list, at http://sc2.sf.net/WhatsNew.
To download all this goodness, we happily direct you to our download page, at http://sc2.sf.net/downloads.html.

We hope you enjoy the game,

The Ur-Quan Masters development team
