Off Topic / Zool - It's a NEEEEEEEEENJA!
« on: May 30, 2008, 07:18:18 am »
Does anyone know who owns the IP on Zool, Ninja of the 'Nth' Dimension? It's a brilliant game, but the people who published it, Gremlin Interactive, closed. Thing is, at the bottom of the EU box it says quite clearly "Electronic Arts", but Gremlin was later bought up by Infogrames, who also apparently bought Accolade. Infogrames actually has a 51.2% share in Atari, but I'm not sure where this becomes Atari getting Star Control. Zool was later re-released for Genesis and SNES. To make matters even more confusing, Gremlin bought DMA, which later became Rockstar North and makes GTA, amongst other things. So whose is it? Your votes please.

Exactly what you might expect, this is intended to bring out the best debating skills in all of us. Maximum one point per post. I'll start:

The British (including Irish) accents are the only ones in which you can say "bugger" and "sod" without sounding like a character in a comedy sketch show.

Off Topic / Sprites
« on: March 27, 2008, 10:44:40 am »
As a spriter, I'm called upon sometimes (usually by myself) to do something. Usually still images, which is all I'm SUPPOSED to do. Yet recently, I've found myself making more and more GIFs with my sprites as I become more used to being represented by them. Recently, for example, I GIF'ed just to defy someone's smilies (see image 3). I'm trying to stop myself, but anyway, I thought you might be interested in some of these. If not, you don't have to look.

Laughing Umgah (very slight edit to make a second pose)

Me.

Me, engaged in Smiley Defiance

Me sitting on a wall, happy.

The Shroom Monk, a friend of mine.

Dreadnought, another friend, version progression (too big!).

The Mopenator, another friend, concept on the left, final on the right.

I have more poses for each, but I thought I'd spare users with slow connections.

Off Topic / The Game (You've Just Lost)

You've all just lost the Game.

http://www.losethegame.com

Now, let's all have fun making each other lose the Game. Spread the word of the Game! Spread it into schools, churches, heart bypass operations (hopefully making the surgeons laugh hard enough to see at least one major fatality)! More to the point, see how many people you can make lose the Game at once! My record's 32, and that was pretty damn spectacular. I'm hoping for about 900 at some point soon, and it could happen.
