I had played SC1 on the Sega Genesis for a few weeks at a community center before I bought it myself, and the only bad part was that I became better than the computer at Awesome level on the day I bought the game. Very quickly I could demolish (or thrash, or vanquish) the computer in the full game with the Hierarchy almost as easily as with the Alliance. So when my brother got a Game Genie several months later, I decided to see whether I could cheat for the computer to help it to beat me.
I don't remember all of the cheats I entered, but I know that the two big ones were (1) super refuel for Chenjesu and (2) maximum number of DOGIs at one time increased to eight. This basically meant that in every battle with a Chenjesu, there were rarely fewer than six or seven DOGIs alive at once, and it could fire almost at will. Also, as time goes on, the computer stops building less expensive ships, so its fleet eventually consisted entirely of Chenjesu ships. I think it took me about three hours (and probably about 100 Androsynth Guardians) to finally beat the computer. If you have the Genesis version and a Game Genie, can find the codes, are really bored, and feel like proving that you are superior to a computer, this could be for you...
