War of the Nest
« on: November 12, 2003, 07:08:12 am »
OOC Notes: This thread is driectly related to events which have occurred in The Grand Council.  I advise reading that thread before posting here.

Dimplomacy had failed.

Despite the best offorts of the Androsynth and the Chmrr, the galaxy was in danger.  The Orz had somehow... changed a planet.  Probes sent by the Chmrr indicated that not only this new planet, but also the newest wave of Orz nemesis ships, were immune to their "bad smell".

The Androsynth had succeeded in driving the Orz away from the Vulpeculae systems, but despite the solar flare the Orz seemed to want to return.

Open war was upon the galaxy.
Oh God, please don't let me die today... tomorrow would be SO much better...

The Mmrnmhrm quickly assembled a force of Transformer Mark IIs', as well as some salvaged Transformers from the first Ur-Quan conflict. The contingent will reach Lalande systems in one hour.

The Utwig sent a fleet of 60 Speeders ahead to scout and estimate enemy numbers, around the Vulpeculae constellation. They also readied several hundred Juggers for the ensueing battle.

The war continues...

Soon after the war began, this message was recieved by all parties on an open-beam hyperspace broadcast.

"Greetings,  on behalf of the Crimson Corporation.  We have become aware of the new diplomatic situation regarding the Orz, and of course we wish to help.

You may be thinking to yourselves, 'how can we win this war?'  Well, honored customers, today is your lucky day!

The Crimson Corporation is prepared to offer to all of you our engines of war!  Yes, we offer you titans of the battlefield!  Our Mauler starships should prove invaluable to all of you.  And remember, no ship but the Vindicator has ever defeated a Druuge Mauler in combat.

All we require in exchange is a simple trade.  We desire that you assign volunteer workers to our trade world on a permanent basis.  Compared to the ability to defeat your enemies, I think you'll agree that it is an incredible bargain!

All interested parties should contact our main trading world at Delta Persei IV."
Oh God, please don't let me die today... tomorrow would be SO much better...

And in the silky red folds of Hyperspace a strange new terror was heading towards the Nest. Red eddies of swirling space licking their broken and charred hulls, the fleet of the dead was making it's way towards the Nest. They had been given no direction, yet they were heading straight for their target, as if some strange magnetism compelled them, drawing them ever closer to the stench of the Nest.

The time for change will soon be upon us.

I speak for the dead. They are not gone you see. Oh no. Do you see? Maybe you do... But they are here. All around us. And they need someone. Someone to say what they cannot. Someone to speak for them.

The Dead were indeed strange.  And they were indeed new.  But they were not invisible to the Orz.  A fleet of Orz Nemesis ships flew to intercept the Dead.

When they were on the edge of sensor range, the Orz ships each released a full complement of Marines.  But then they used a tactic never before seen:  The ships turned back to the nest, abandoning their marines to kill or be killed.

As the first wave turned back toward the planet-turned horror, a second wave launched...

The broken hulks did not slow. As the Orz marines, unfamiliar with the swirling madness of hyperspace drew nearer, thery lined up into a single line. As the Marines drew nearer, fighting the strange enviroment and trying to line up their approach as to do maximum damage, the Avengers started glowing, basking in a unholy flickering green light.

<And far away, inside the Council chamber, the Speaker for the Dead uttered the words : "Let it all burn in the holy flame.">

From the cold dark nozzles of the Avenger spewed forth a new fire. Not a trace was to be seen of the napalm based orange flames that Alliance captains had come to know and fear. Instead of a weapon that lit up the skies, this new breed of Avengers had something else. A ghostly reflection of what had been, a pale green flickering light.

Without a sound it struck out, enveloping the Orz marines in a sick green glow. Anything it touched dissolved. As the Marines further back despeartely tried to retreat and regroup, bright green sparks, thicker than a human arm struck out, dancing between them. Those who were struck by these bolts were knocked backwards, their Vac suits giving off a hissing noise of decompression.

Soon there were no more Marines. Their mistake had been to assume that the ship of the dead carried no weapons of range, broken parodies of ships as they were. Yet the next Orz wave was arriving. Without any indication of communication the entire fleet of Ilwrath dropped out of Hyperspace. They would wait in Truespace, hidden from sight until they were ready. And they would be soon.  After all, the dead never rest.

In hyperspace, broken Marine VacSuits slowly tumbled through the red infinity. This part of the beast was gone. At least for the moment.

Bewlidered on one front, the Marines returned to the nest.

In its own, twisted way, the Orz-planet strategized...

<THE DEAD THINGS MUST COME TO HEAVY SPACE IF THEY ARE TO HURT ME/US>

It decided, therefore, that the Dead could be left alone for now.  The Orz had other vendettas to fulfill.  The Androsynth had stolen the Ta'alo playground, but they were secondary.  The Quick Babies had stolen so much more from the Orz...

That moment, the Arilou homeworld became surrounded by Orz *fingers* sent from Truespace.  The Orz began moving down toward the unknown, prepared to slaughter the entire Arilou race...

As the Orz closed cautiously on the Ariloulaleelay planet, a red field enveloped the small sphere.  Moments afterwards, a massive fleet of Androsynthetic Guardian Mk. II's popped into quasispace, unleashed a salvo of reformulated acid bubbles, and then once again disappeared.

The field of bubbles trembled and bounced toward their Orz targets, and the ships had no choice but to give up ground to avoid damage.  Suddenly, a MASSIVE portal opened, and in a brief moment the entire planet was... was just GONE.

The sickly, green glow of quasispace began to quickly fade as gravity and time in the pocket dimension collapsed.  Then it was gone, along with the Orz ships.  Quasispace had been destroyed entirely, and the Ariloulaleelay planet moved to a destination unknown.

As Quasispace desolves, the Orz vessels are thrown back into Hyperspace. At that moment the Mmrnmhrm activate the Hyperspace Net. Hyperspace rippled around the edges of the fleet of Nemisis's, and folded to create a sphere. The sphere went *down* into Truespace, and the waiting Mmrnmhrm Mk II Transformers used Gravity Field Generaters to push it into the Reality Portal. The Mmrnmhrm had successfully tested their Reality Portal.

The Utwig were not idle, either.
They sent a large contingent through Hyperspace to the Lalande systems to establish a base.
As their forces entered Truespace again, Orz vessels swarmed their Juggers. A wave of marines attacked the Utwig ships. They managed to fight that wave with minimul casualties. The Orz fleet then simultaniously turned their turrets towards the Juggers and fired. Most of the Jugger fleet absorbed the shots, but not all. The Utwig fleet recovered and then moved in. Volleys of energy needles hit Nemisis hulls. The Juggers managed to pushed the Orz fleet back, forcing them to retreat. The Utwig supply ships then *dropped* out of Hyperspace and started to establish a base at the abandoned Orz world.  A hundred and twenty-two Juggers were destroyed, and sixty-eight damaged severely.

The War of the Nest continues...

And far away, on distant planets and worlds, every Orz alive howled with frustration...

And though one World in Lalandae was captured, another one of them WAS an Orz...  The newly formed outpost had to constantly defend against Nemesis attacks.  Their resources were strained at best.  In but a few days, they would lose the planet back to the constant onslaught of Orz...

Portals between truespace and hyperspace began to open.  First one, than two, a dozen.  Soon ships are streaming into the system,  Human cruisers and Syreen Penetrators.
The fleet seems comparably small to the force that was before it, it's ships sadly outdated.  Yet these were supposedly the greatest minds to pilot their respective ships.  They had planned their strategy, rehearsed the moves, held many late night, intimate *meetings* to *discuss* the flaws.  It was time.  The Orz wanted to *dance* then the Orz would see a dance the likes of which they had never witnessed.
The vessels pair off, one Human ship matched to each Syreen.  The remaining Human vessels hold back, forming a tight circle, engines warmed and missile tubes ready should they be needed.
As if cued by some unheard music, all paired vessels broke off, advancing into the battle.  Despite their superior speed, the Penetrators held back, allowing the Humans to lead the way.  The Orz had seen these ships before.  They knew they couldn't use the *go* *go* against the human vessels, and the Syreen call could still compel them out of their vessels, despite the extreme differences in their origins.  A small contingent from the main Orz force broke off to intercept this new threat.
The opposing fleets were soon within firing distance of the Humans missile weapons.  And yet the missiles were not fired.  Closer the two armies got.  The Orz ships began firing, each shot cleanly picked off by the skilled human gunners before they could do any damage.  Suddenly, as one, the human vessels all turned around and began propellng thenselves away from the advancing Orz.  The Penetrators thrust forward, made a tail whip about the Cruisers, and thrust back into the protection of the Human guns.  As they made their whip, at the point they were closest to the Orz, they used the call.  A wave of green marines frantically scrambled to abandon their ships, summoned by the Syreen.  They quickly crossed paths with the Cruisers lasers.
The Human and Syreen ships closed their formation tightly, the remaining Orz quickly closing the gap on the slow moving cruisers, occasionally hitting but most shots safely stopped.
Then the wave of missiles hit.  The cruisers that had held back had expanded their circle.  The Orz, temporarily distracted by the Syreen's call, hadn't noticed them creeping closer until it was too late.  Half the Orz vessels exploded.  The retreating Human and Syreen turned, once more, in unison, facing down their opponents, and unleashed every weapon they had.  Most of the remaining Orz ships were quickly destroyed.  The few that remained retreat back to the main force.
The Human and Syreen also retreat.  This dance was done, it had served it's purpose, but it would not work again.  They needed to prepare for the next dance.

The Orz were anrgy.  First, the Quick babies had evaded them.  Then the sad cows from heavy space had forced them to dance with them.  Not only that, but two had worked together.  If the Orz hadn't been so angry it almost could have admired the strategy.

But no more.  It was time to stop holding back.

Massive tendrils began to lash out from the Orz-planet at the human and syreen vessels.  Though they tried to dodge, the tentacles came out at massive speeds, crushing entire cruiesers in one blow.

The Syreen and Human captains quickly ordered a temporary retreat -- losing ships at that rate, they'd need a much larger fleet to take on the Orz.

Meanwhile, the outpost the alliance had formed was failing.  Only a few dozen still survived, and those were on the brink of being hunted down by the Orz marines.
Oh God, please don't let me die today... tomorrow would be SO much better...

The Mmrnmhrm quickly sent a fleet of 2000 Mk II Transformers to the captured world in Alpha Lalande. But, unfortunately, the Mmrnmhrm fleet did not reach Alpha Lalande in time. The colony was already decimated. The Transformers were about to land on Alpha Lalande II(to help repair damaged buildings and ships), when Nemisis vessels came streaming from the Orz planet. The Transformers changed to jet-form immedietely, and quickly shot several missile volleys(of which only few hit). Marines and turrets shot towards the Transformer fleet. Half of the Mmrnmhrm vessels charged forward in Y-form. After reaching laser range they changed back to X-form. 306 Orz ships were obliterated by Mmrnmhrm laser-fire. Only 104 Nemisis's were left. The other half of the Transformer fleet remained in Y-form, providing long range missile support.  The Orz vessels retreatd, temporarily. The Mmrnmhrm had re-captured Alpha Lalande II.

Mmrnmhrm factories were working on creating a Hyperspace Net that could span the entire Lalande constellation. For they were going to attempt to cover the whole of the Lalande systems with a Hyperspace Net and push it through a enlarged Reality Portal. With the Orz *Nest* gone, the the Orz fleet would crumble...

Durring the intense battles a small contingent of Androsynthetic mobile industry bases, manned solely by self-replicating Melnorme droids, snuck into the system taking great care not to be noticed.  Establishing themselves on the dark side of the moon of Alpha Lacertae II, they quickly began to convert mass amounts of the degenerate matter found there into building materials.

But what is it they were constructing?  It was not any type of ship factories... nor any planetary defenses... but the project continued on, entirely undetected by the Orz...

a few moments after, huge dimensional portals started appearing all across the Lalande constellation.
an aramada of Orz ships came out, after which the portals closed immidiately.
they slowly begun moving toward the Transformer fleet,
and attacked.
the Transformer fleet failed to create the net,and the entire fleet has been destroyed.
the Orz aramada started patroling the Lalande constellation, and as they begun to approach Alpha Lacertae when they notoiced something was wrong...
