Top 5 Good (mostly contemporary) Movies:
- Gattaca (I WANT THIS DVD!)
- The Others (I own the DVD)
- 2001 and 2010 (Yes, I liked both movies)
- Run Lola Run (German flick)
- Fight Club (Had the DVD, gave it away as a gift)
Top 2 Bad (contemporary) Movies:
- Lord of the Rings (no emotional attachment to the characters whatsoever)
- Gladiator (It just did NOT need to be a double-length flick)
I really couldn't think of anything else I've heard was supposed to be really good that was a total letdown. I mean, I know there are a LOT of bad movies lately, but you can see them a mile away. These last two were so acclaimed that it was crazy.
For those of you into anime or just good drama series, I suggest you watch "Cowboy Bebop". It's on Cartoon Network's 'Adult Swim' block later at night. Before you go turning your nose up because it's a cartoon (anime at that) I suggest you watch the first episode. You can most likely find it on Kazaa. It's called "Asteroid Blues". I honestly didn't care for anime that much until I saw this series back in '98, which proved that not all writers follow cliches. Be warned, though, that it's a rather meloncholy series with quite a bit of dry humor. Some or you younger ones may not like it.
And for those who speak the native tongue, get the untranslated version. Hearing Jet yell, "Spike!" is a laugh and a half!
