Original pictures of the intro and ending slides
« on: March 16, 2010, 04:04:42 am »
This probably has been discussed before, but I don't remember.

I once thought of remaking the slides. Then I thought that the originals must still exist somewhere and that they could be scanned with higher resolution. I remember someone saying that the original picture of Talana is hanging on a wall in TFB office.

Someone from the UQM team could also tell me whether higher resolution versions of the pictures would be useful at all.

I also would like to know how the slides and comm screen pictures were made.

May not be very useful, but there's this.

I remember someone saying that the original picture of Talana is hanging on a wall in TFB office.
I wonder if this is more distracting than it is motivating . . .

At first it looked very useful. Then I noticed that the thread was from 2002. So it was only semi-useful. There might have been some new turns of events.

Someone should hunt down all those pictures. Pay a few million to get world-wide advertisements that *someone* will buy those pictures for a good sum. Anyone care to spare a few million euros?

Well I would, but I already filed my tax return. I don't know of any more recent info than what Zeracles posted I'm afraid.
Round and round it goes, where it stops nobody knows

I'm cataloguing old threads (so things like this will be easier to answer), starting at the beginning. I'm not yet done with 2002 (UQMF had a LOT of threads back then), but if something more recent about this turns up, I'll let you know.

I think that tracking down the original art will be difficult.  However, there's a good chance that the original artists have slides or other photographs of the paintings.  You might be able to convince them to send you copies for some money.  http://www.well-of-dreams.com/thingamajig/science_fiction2.htm

The only ones I know of offhand are George Barr and Erol Otus.

The game credits list the following:
Art and Animation
    George Barr
    Paul Reiche III
    Erol Otus
    Greg Johnson
    Kyle Balda
    Jeff Rianda
    Taunya Shiffer
    Leonard Robel
    Greg Hammond
    Armand Cabrera
    Silicon Knights

How many of those are "art" and how many are "animation" I don't know.  I assume that PR3 was an animator.
