3D rendering program
« on: March 14, 2010, 04:37:50 pm »
I'm looking to make some original SC creations, and I need a program that I can render 3D images.  If some of you remember (a long time ago), I created some ships via hijacked 3D images.  Some people weren't too happy, so I'm looking for a way that I can create originals.  Any suggestions?

The only 3D rendering program I can think of is Blender, GNU Goodness...
Lever1: Hey, I want too push the button
Lever2: No! I want too!
Lever3: Stop whining you two!
Button: Hey Lever 3, can we switch jobs? I'm getting bored of pushing the button....
Lever3: Sweet!
Lever1/2: awww no fair!

I use Maya, myself.  It's very powerful, but has a steep learning curve.

Hmmmm, maybe we could form a mutually beneficial relationship.  And by "mutually" I mean "would you like to help me out" type relationship.

The problem lies with my inadequacies in the art department.  I have the creations in my head; however, getting it from my brain to a digital medium has always been an issue.

Do you accept this challenge?  If you do, I'll go into further details about what I'm wanting to do.

See, when I say "mutually" I mean "I would like to help you out...  if you pay me."

I welcome commissions.  I can work by the hour, or you can tell me what you want and I'll quote you a price for the project, but there will be a limit on how many changes I'm willing to do in that case.

Sorry, Eth.  I guess I underestimated the caliber of what I'm asking.  I'm going to try and figure something out... that or draw them by hand.

Here's something someone told me once

Quote
There is not such a thing as "talent", it is 1% inspiration, and 99% transpiration.
Practice is needed to become master.
Just like music or workout, you will not get muscles or make a masterpiece in one day.
Try to focus on enjoying the experience of arts, to feel the inspiration and express what is in your soul.
And most of all practice, practice...
This is what will make your arts to excel.

Guys not a bad artist either. I guess what I'm saying is, don't just assume you can't do it if you can't make a masterpiece straight away. Be ready to sacrifice time. Sometimes, if you're lucky, you can find someone talented who will be happy to help you because your ideas excite them. That's how you go from this to this. But then you have to understand that someone is sacrificing a lot of their free time out of the goodness of their heart to help you. Most of the time, you'll have to make do yourself unless you are really good at sweet-talking or are ready to pay for what you want.
Round and round it goes, where it stops nobody knows
