There's an old French game called Captain Blood (not Commander Blood, now, that's different) It's by Cryos, or Cyros, or whatever the hell their name is, which is odd, as their games are usually pretty weak.
Anyway, that'd probably be pretty hard to find - and even if you did, a certain part of the game is in 3D... playing the game on a modern computer makes it run so quickly that it's unplayable. Other than that, it's a weird, and very good, game, about talking to alien with a cyborg-dolphin that can fly, and flying through black holes.
Apart from that, adventure games are your best bet, I'd say, if you want entertaining, amusing dialogue. The Secret of Monkey Island, Monkey Island 2, and the Curse of Monkey Island are the best adventure games, and, at least at one point, can be bought in one package. Grim Fandango is also excellent (requires a patch for faster machines). Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis is good, too. "Day of the Tentacle" and "Sam and Max Hit the Road" are also of high quality.
Full Throttle is very good, but too short. The Dig is great in the middle, but the start and end are woeful. The Kyrandia games are kind of good and kind of bad at the same time. That's all I can remember.
Oh, and Monkey Island 4 is beyond crap. I can't express how disappointing and generally arse it is - a worse let down than SC3.
