Anyone else think that Hollywood has ran out of ideas for Horror movies? I haven't really liked any horror movies that have been made in the past few years.

There, fixed your post. ;)

Thanks for that, Sgae, because it sums up my attitude pretty succinctly. I really have to force myself to watch a movie nowadays, and haven't actually been to a movie theater in years at this point.

I thought UP was pretty good. The story was silly of course, but the characters were nice and it was set up differently than that sort ofmovie usually is, no romantic interests or any of that. Also, the dogs were adorable.

Well, there was more than one story going on there.  There was the adventure tale, which was indeed silly.  There was also Carl's interior journey to understand that he hadn't failed his wife; that their life together had been an adventure far better than the one he was currently engaged in.  That, I thought, wasn't silly at all, but rather moving, in fact.

I actually felt that UP was one of the best films of the past year. The introductory sequence alone is award-winning stuff, very compelling!

Yeah I agree, UP was basically the best movie I've seen in a long time. Actually, all Pixar movies are like that. Every time I see them, I look at other live action movies with pity.

Pixar really shines nowadays. Wall-E was absolutely phenomenal. They told most of the story using only the names of the main characters. How cool is that?

I watched that on DVD recently, missed it when it came out. It seriously almost made me cry. I'm a big soppy nerd, but at least I don't fight it.

Yeah, I think about 2/3rds of Pixar movies are great, while 1/3rd are merely good.  Up and Wall-E certainly fall into the former category.

I just watched Avatar again with my family this time, not just me.
And well, I noticed something funny.

After listening to the thousands of negative comments about that movie and how it was sappy and stuff after I came out of the theater, I was like "No, The movie was Great!" But watching it a second time after listening to the comments did something odd; I didn't enjoy the movie nearly as much the second time.

So this brings up a point: Do critics change your point of view if you go see a movie?
Everyone Thinks I'm crazy.
I'd like to keep the term
"Mentally Unstable".

Yes, I too have heard that Avatar is a movie best seen on the big screen in a proper theater, else best not seen at all. Hard to say, haven't seen it myself, but I hear the visuals ARE rather impressive.
The Controversial Subject lives on.

I say that the funniest movie that I saw last year was the Hangover, low budget but still quite funny.
And that's all I got to say about that.

Depressingly, the overwhelming majority of these came out in the '80s. I guess I've never been much of a movie person. I probably don't need to really mention titles, since everyone knows and loves 'em.
