I saw a meteor. Awesome!
« on: November 25, 2009, 01:08:37 am »
Although I thought it was lightning 'till I saw the news.  Unfortunately I was under pretty heavy cloud at the time so the videos are much clearer.  As luck would have it I was taking the dogs out on their nightly rounds at the time.

And a question, does anyone know how to embed video?

Geez that is awesome. X-files stuff. Where did it land - can you drive out there? Looked to big to have vaporized

It landed far north of me (like 500 kilometers or something) and hasn't been found yet.  It's *really* empty up there so it's going to be a while until someone spots it.  It might have even landed in Botswana so, sadly, I won't get to see the tripods emerge :(

I could probably roll an army across the border and no one would notice  ;D

If you're bored, maps.google.com search for Gaborone then zoom out to include Johannesburg.  You could probably walk over the boarder and not realise it.

No one would've believed in the first years of the twenty-first century that human affairs were being watched from the timeless worlds of space...and yet, across the gulf of space, minds immeasurably superior to ours regarded this Earth with envious eyes...and slowly, and surely, they drew their plans against us...

Run, Dragon, run!  :D

I saw one come down here a while back too, apparently something like 200km east of me, got some video clips of it actually.

For some reason my first thought was that this was the introduction to 'The Invaders Plan' by L. Ron Hubbard.  Then memory kicked in...  Not that I'm saying that Mr Hubbard wasn't capable of plagiarising it, but I'm not saying he did either.  That I don't remember.

Unsubtle prod. *cough* youtube *cough*.

I wish I could see a meteor crash, maybe one day I suppose.
And that's all I got to say about that.

Man, I wish I could access youtube. Oh well, I'll look at this at Christmas. Congrats on seeing what sounds like a very cool looking meteorite!
Round and round it goes, where it stops nobody knows
