That Ur-Quan Master #7
« on: October 22, 2009, 11:09:35 pm »
This thread is for discussing That Ur-Quan Master #7.  And, as promised, I will make available the JPEG files of the first seven comics, for people who are browsing with a PSP (or an iPod Toucher, for that matter!).

My brain kept trying to read Slaydo as Slylandro.  :-X

Nice comic once again  ;D
How is it that I can beat the Sa-Matra with one Fury, but I can't beat a Marauder with an Avatar?

This is the best one so far. An Ilwrath running a boot camp is just perfect.
Round and round it goes, where it stops nobody knows

What's up with the red rings around Nuff's neck? They were there MOST of the time in #6, not in #5 or earlier and they've disappeared again now.

This comic is turning out pretty well! The Androsynth you've used so far look bizarre. Are they all going to be wearing robes and funny headpieces?

I like the white gear Slaydo's using duing instruction.  It suits the whole medieval look.  [EDIT] well obviously, but that's why I like it.

What's in the background of the second panel?  It looks like it could be the Dreadnought's bridge but I can't really see.  Is that an Ur-Quan on the ceiling behind the speech bubble?

I just noticed that the Androsynth kind of looks like a summoner in final fantasy tactics, with the spike on the head at least.

And that's all I got to say about that.

The back of Slaydo's head in the first panel looks remarkably similar to something, but I can't put my finger on it...
Also, why was Slaydo demoted from #39 to #40? :'(

I was also reminded of that guy from Yu-gi-oh, who in the abridged series is always using "My hair..." as a replacement for "I" or "me". Yeah, I've only seen the abridged series, so I don't know what his name really is. I don't think you'll blame me.
We did. You did. Yes we can. No.

Beats me.  I guess we'll see.

What's in the background of the second panel?  It looks like it could be the Dreadnought's bridge but I can't really see.  Is that an Ur-Quan on the ceiling behind the speech bubble?
It's actually the Hindu Wheel of Life.  I was trying to make Slaydo look like a pagan idol.

I just noticed that the Androsynth kind of looks like a summoner in final fantasy tactics, with the spike on the head at least.
It's probably not a coincidence.  Jesse is a big fan of Final Fantasy Tactics.

Also, why was Slaydo demoted from #39 to #40? :'(
He wasn't.  He's been #40 for the whole comic so far.  M109-A6 had been up for 48 hours straight, and was mourning the loss of his best friend / twin brother / lover LVTH-5.  He can be excused for misremembering the exact position of one of the lowest-ranked crewmembers.

"Deep breath" thank you, thank you, thank you...(continues to the anoyance of everyone else.)
(You're welcome.) * 3.  :)

Eh, I haven't really thought about it much.  I've given Jesse pretty wide latitude with the Androsynth, because he really wants to draw "humans."  It's his reward for drawing so many goofy aliens.
