The Orz question
« on: October 20, 2009, 06:47:11 pm »
So I know that the Orz are quasi-dimensional, gill breathing, puffer fish things of sorts with a strange language and all but I think theres something that the designers forgot to add in. According to the RRP guide and what one can tell by looking at there communication screen, the Orz have beaks, probably used for breaking down food. However, on there captains portrait (Check out AngleFishes avatar) there (beakless) mouth is retracted and sucked in like a retarded mermaid. Any suggestions as toWhyThisIs?

They have alot of differing things from the COM screen to the captains portrait, just look at Thraddash, or Yehat, or Mycon...
And that's all I got to say about that.

The Mycon and Yehat look good and the Thraddash is in power armour. His helmet lifts up to let out (green) cigar smoke to power the thrusters. Heres another similer question! Why does the manual say that the VUX have one large UNBLINKING eye yet they blink all the time in there captains portrait?

The Mycon captain looks nothing like the Mycon in the COM screen. The Yehat has a top hat (and I believe a monocle) on when he fights, and why would the Thraddash put on combat Armour before a fight?

That's an issue worth talking about, I suppose that the game creators didn't think about that at the time.
And that's all I got to say about that.

Mycon: They look similar!
Yehat: Thats the shield generator behind him, its controled by the gravity or whatever discharges created by the Yehat (so he has to be close) .
Thraddash: such a barbaric xenoform is always ready for battle!

When you talk to them, they aren't in armor.  Surely they can't put it on in less than 3 seconds, the time between ending communications and starting a melee.

The Mycon come in different forms, so the man-thing is just another type of Mycon, mabye a worker Mycon.

Considering the Orz are just extensions of a single pandimensional being, I don't think that we need concern ourselves with what appear to be mouths.  They are not organisms as we know them.

Also, since they are just protrusions into our dimension, there's a perfectly good chance they can change their appearance at will.  Maybe they do have beaks and they don't have beaks.  Maybe even at the same time, who knows.

Edit:  Or maybe the Orz eat by inverting their mouth, and Angelfish caught a picture of an Orz swallowing.
How is it that I can beat the Sa-Matra with one Fury, but I can't beat a Marauder with an Avatar?

I always got the impression that while in our universe, they have to play by our rules, including eating/breathing/pooping/whatever. *Fingers* or not.

When you blink with one eye, that is a wink, not a blink. When you are winking at someone you are communicating that you are not saying what you mean, or chatting them up. When winking to chat someone up you will likely turn your head away from the side the closed eye is on. VUX have one eye in the center of their heads, so when they do this they are simply turning their head away from the middle, otherwise known as not moving it. Conclusion: All VUX are subconsciously chatting you up. Why? VUX are all secretly just like ZEX, despite their repression of their inherent tendencies to bestiality, and the Captain is beautiful enough to start to bring it out.

That's the best reason Ive ever heard. All Vux have the hots for the captain.
And that's all I got to say about that.

SC2 was released in a hurry. Therefore, such inconsistencies were never fixed.
What would you give to know the truth?

I don't agree.  So my fingers have to start eating because they've intersected an arbitrary 2-dimensional plane?  The Orz bear a certain resemblance to the various "X" aliens (Palainians, Eich, etc.) from Doc Smith's "Lensman" series (which is listed as an influence in the SC1 manual).  These species have a "metabolic extension into the hyper-dimension," allowing them to live on such miserable places as Pluto.
