You're entirely right! Besides that, Star Control 2 is FILLED with sometimes subtle, sometimes not so subtle references to sex.
The encounters with Talana where the lights go off, the Dnyarri referencing gratuitous alien sex scenes, Zex making advances on the captain, Tanaka engaging in a massive replenishing of his species.. heck, one of the races is even called Penis in my language, and in swedish, I think .
