"Balanced" matches

This is a quick question to all you SC freaks out there. I have always been fasinated by the "rock-paper-scissors" of SC (particularly SC1) and how that balance played into the full game melees. For example, in the full game "Beginner's Luck" a single Syreen is pitted against 2 Androsynths. The 'Synths have a colony and a space station and the Syreen's job is to kill the station. The game is playable on either side. If you're playing the Syreen, just hit the colony quickly, pump up you're crew and they 'Synth's pose little problem. If the 'Synth's sit on thier colony and wait for the Syreen, the first battle could go either way and will usually determine the end of the game.

It's that balance that intrests me. If you've ever played a human in a 'Synth vs Syreen battle, you know it'll be a close one, either way.

How many other balanced match-ups can you guys think of?

well, the Kohr-ah VS Chmmr is pretty close. I can win from either side against a comp. Never tried a human player though... (anyone?)

Yeah, Chmmr vs. Kohr-Ah seems pretty even.

How about a Fury vs. Dreadnaught? I can usually take down a Dreadnaught with one Pkunk fury. On the other hand, I can take down a fury with a dreadnaught. Goes either way, I'd say that's balanced!

Are you guys taking into account the level of effort involved?  I think a Fury vs Dreadnought might be balanced as well, but the Fury pilot has to be better than the Dreadnought pilot IMHO and it'll take a lot longer for the Fury to kill the Dreadnought than say a Chenjesu working on the Dreadnought.  Just food for thought?

Question: How does the computer ALWAYS gets to kill ALL the autonomous fighters I send at him, and I never get to pull it off huh? hardcoded perhaps?

Also, a computer controlled Yehat can just about infinately keep the shields up. Even a Vux's lazer only gets in once in a while.

At least with an utwig, you can fool a computer controlled (and sometimes human) player into depleating it's sheilds.

What about a Fury versus a ZFP?

Anybody who can pilot a fury will tear up a ZFP and I can't ever seeing myself say the same thing about ZFP tearing up a fury. A fury is faster and has better range on its gun. I'm sure there is some good ZFP pilots out there, but I just can't see that being an even fight EVER!

That's right.
It's also why a Pkunk Fury costs a whopping 20SB(2000RU) each, while a ZFP Stinger costs only 7SB(700RU).
*Whopping, in that for a ship its and crew, although it's 'Karma' ability more than makes up for this.

Uh, it looks like he just multiplied the RU value times 100?

Yeah, you know how under the ship it says point values? Like Kohr-Ah is 30, Utwig is 22, Supox is 16 and shofixti is 5? That reflects how much they cost when you buy them in the game, like when you buy a utwig jugger, it costs 2200 RU and when you buy a shofixti it is 500 RU

It's not incorrect to say I just multiplied the values by 100, however it is accurate.

In SC1 a Shofixti Scout costs 5SB whereas in SC2 it costs 500RU... the Scout also counts as 5 points in SC2' HyperMelee.

This applies to a good few other ships.
