Star Control Comic
« on: August 09, 2009, 08:00:25 am »
In addition to the comic produced by Eth, which you've already gotten a few teasers for, there is also another Star Control comic in the works. This one is being produced by forum member Tiberian, along with a fellow called Glory_Device. I'm not going to show you anything that will give away the plot, because that'd be rather rude. But as a teaser I am going to show you the cover for the first issue. Just to give you an idea of the quality of the art involved.

The comic itself looks promising as well, and will be hosted right here on the Pages of Now and Forever. In less than a month, we'll hopefully be able to dazzle you with this piece of art.

This truly is epic. Two Star Control comics are going to be happening at once.
And that's all I got to say about that.

I've had a peak at it, and I can say that it looks like a quality piece of work.  You all are in for a treat once it goes live.

None of these posts are ending up on the frontpage... is that intentional?

I'm pretty curious about these upcoming Star Control projects!

Is this going to turn into a marvel/DC comics feud?
And that's all I got to say about that.

LOL, I hope not.  I admit that I was somewhat dismayed that there was another comic coming out at the same time as mine, but they're so different, it's hard to worry about it.  Anyway, there's plenty of room on the internet.   :)

Man, you must have both been thinking this. I mean, I can just imagine you guys, working away on your comics, enjoying yourselves and probably thinking "I'm sure people will enjoy this, it's the first time anyone has done SC in comic form". And then finding out that by some absurdly unlikely coincidence, there's someone else doing the same thing at the same time. I mean, what are the odds?

It turns out well for the rest of us though, as we get to cool comics. And probably for you as well, as you'll both be showered in praise.

Also it'll probably keep both of you on your toes because now you also have something to stack up to.

If we were to assume a model form of constant probability density of comics starting since the launch date of SC2, and we set as the criterion as second launch within 1 month of the first, and first comic launched after 16 years... I'd guess that the model in which this is the least improbable is one in which there is an average of one SC comic being launched every 8 years or so. In that case, the probability of it happening this close is around... 1 - e^-(1/12*8) = 0.0104.

On the other hand, if we assume a constant probability density of comics starting since UQM became finishable, then  that's somewhere around... 2%

Okay, it's pretty unlikely either way.
We did. You did. Yes we can. No.
