*Heavy* Space
« on: June 11, 2003, 11:48:08 pm »
For those who (for some reason) don't know, the new RPG/racial conversations forum is open for business.

It's called *Heavy* Space, and is where the "Inconsistancies" thread used to be.

We encourage anyone and everyone to try their hand at RP and racial conversations.  More posts means more fun for everyone.  As it is we've got a couple of interesting active threads just waiting to go in any number of directions.

So check it out if you haven't already, and if you have... WHY DIDN'T YOU CONTRIBUTE?!  :D

ASB heres what I think... Heavy Space is not going to work if we all only post to our own topics... I'm guilty of that myself, As i have only posted to my own topics. I'm worried about ruining peoples stories. But the point is, i think we should only have one thread going at a time, that way, it gets developed by everybody. If you dont like a thread, wait for it to be over, or tell a moderator. Hows that sound?

That's one of the reasons the active thread limit was set at three, actually.  As for ruining other peoples' stories, don't worry about it.  That's what Rider, the Story Author, and I are there for.

If the story author feels you've ruined the story, they'll either message you or one of the mods to adjust/remove it.  See?  No problem.  It's only if you do it repeatedly and malisciously when it will become a serious issue.  I don't think anyone here intends on taking that course of action.

In fact, I ENCOURAGE people to cross threads and post in any active story that tickles their fancy.  I'm sure Rider didn't intend for the Orz, Arilou, and Androsynth to get dragged into his story, but I thought it'd be fun to toss in that little curveball.  By having multiple people with multiple ideas contributing it keeps the story from getting too predictable and stagnant.  And the fact that you can post in one thread and then turn around and post in another that's completely unrelated will keep even your ideas changing.

So see, no worries about ruining stories.  Besides, it's all just immaterial 0's and 1's in the end, and has no value but to amuse others.

Well, I am very tempted to post something in heavy space... However I'm kindof an perfectionist, so I have a hard time letting go of what I wirte (also, I currently work about 12-15 hours every day, which kinda saps my creative uses.). But I'll give it a shot next time I have a day off (whenever that is).
