No special news this time around I’m afraid. Instead, I thought Id turn your attention towards the SC community and highlight some of the interesting discussions going. This is a good time to be a SC fan, with several communities still going strong even after such a long time and plenty of discussion.
Let’s start with frungylovers shall we? Even though the conversation unsurprisingly has veered off course by the tiniest of smidgeons, they have a pretty interesting
discussion on VUX language going. This time around the topic starter is
Zarla, but the
original idea seems to have come from
eco_mono. There’s a lot of pictograms and theorizing on VUX languages and translation technology which is pretty interesting.
Then let’s smoothly move on over to UQMF. Two topics here in particular might catch your eye. One is about the
mysteries of the Star Control universe, started by
SuddenDeath. In part, it contains stuff we’ve all discussed before, but there’s an interesting shift about halfway through to what the Arilou would have done (and how others might have fared) if the Kohr-Ah had arrived before their cousins. Would there have been an Alliance? The second topic is all about the
Mmrnmhrm, those underappreciated mechanical fellows. Good work by
UAF there.
Oh, as usual
StarController has an interesting thing up about something you probably didn’t know about and probably will enjoy.
Finally, even the SCDB General discussion is comparatively active nowadays. Besides the
Hyperspace topics (seriously, how does that work?), you might be interested in finding out some unknown facts about the
Ilwrath and
Traddash. Thanks to
Dragon and
Bleeding_Star for thinking up those questions we eventually got answered.
Phew, that’s a lot of reading for you. Hopefully it’ll stimulate some further SC ponderings.
