As much as the thought of impromptu surgery appeals to me somethings been on a killing spree and I really don't want to be next.

Does the dead guy look like an inmate or a jailer?  Regardless I'll take a look for some sort of key and then I think it's time to leave.  If I can't hear anything from room 11 then it's as good a choice as any.  (Do any of the doors look significant in anyway?)

B-b-but I'm curious to see what the guy's insides look like! That's not fair! How much time does it take to cut him a little anyway!?

EDIT: A question for Lukipela -- are we in good physical shape or not, because we will need to be strong enough if we ever need to fight.

Slicing? And catch whatever he might have?

Let's instead see what killed this... being... is there a head wound? Cut or impact?

Also, room 11 is just fine, let's head there next!

Oh look, something that's red! I guess I we aren't colorblind after all!

Meh, this body is no fun any more. Let's go see what other bodies I we can find in room 11!

You give the body a cursory examination before leaving the room. The man is dressed in the same sort of overalls as both you and the Shofxiti. Unlike the Shofixti who was lying on his stomach close to the door, this man is lying peacefully on his back just like you were when you woke up. There's a wound at the base of his skull and a lot of blood has pooled beneath him. His skin hue is definitely blue and for some reason you think he is quite... rare. He is very handsome, even in death.

The room is as empty as yours and contains nothing of interest. You proceed back to the corridor and walk down the row of doors to door number 11. This door is not open and pushing it reveals that it will not swing open either. So far you've only explored the rooms with open doors. This door is locked, and you figure the other doors are probably locked as well. This doesn't seem like the kind of place where people leave doors open if they can avoid it.

Try the keycard in the device by the door.

Second the keycard idea. Also be very, very cautious about it; no telling what might be inside the room.

So the guy was probably a Syreen male ("his skin hue is definitely blue", "he is quite... rare" and "very handsome"), not a sick human. Hmm, it seems each door has a different species, but there are only 12 doors and there were 14 races in Star Control 1. I wonder which races are missing, I suppose one of them may be the Arilou (hard to catch). Likely candidates for the other are Androsynth (cloned Humans, thus redundant), Mmrnmhrm (just robots), Ur-Quan (if they are the ones who run this thing). Or maybe the Mmrnmhrm and Chenjesu are missing, because they don't have a carbon-based biology. We'll see.

Yeah, let's try the keycard on room 11, and if that doesn't work, let's go through each locked door in turn and see which one is opened by the keycard. Let's even try the identity card, if it even fits.

OOC:  Crap, didn't realise we already had the keycard (!)

Starting with 11 I want to try the keycard on *all* the closed doors but cautiously.  If I hear something from in a room then I'll stop and reconsider.

Do I know know what a Syreen is?

After taking the key card out of the impromptu bag, you study the device attached to door number 11. There is a hole of the right shape on the device, and you slide the key card into it. The device makes a few beeping noises and fires a red beam at you. The beam is not very wide and as it hits your chest it looks like a red line. The line moves up and down the right side of your chest area three times, and then shuts down. After making another electronic noise, a red light briefly come on. Your key card slides back out into your hand. Then the device goes dark again.

You try pushing on the door again, but it doesn't yield.

EDIT: A question for Lukipela -- are we in good physical shape or not, because we will need to be strong enough if we ever need to fight.

Your back still hurts a bit, as do your knees. It's a dull pain though, probably nothing serious. Your head is still sore though. Physically you think you are in fair shape. It's hard to say without any references, but walking and carving stuff into the wall didn't really tax you physically. In a fight, it all depends on who you would be fighting you suppose. And with what.

Hmm... what did the thing attempt to read on my chest? Let's try keeping the barcode on the identity card on my chest (so that the lines are horizontal, and the beam falls right on them). If the device still doesn't let us in, let's look for some sort of insignia or such on the labcoat and on the shirt of the dead researcher (in the chest area of course), and if we find anything like this let's take the respective clothing item (pity the chick's body has *dissolved*...) and hold it in such a way as its chest part is in front of our chest. In fact let's try this even if we don't find any insignia.

Yeah, try to attach the ID to our chest and re-attempt the keycard thing.

How do we know that we're human?  Could we be an Androsynth?

I say we check out the double-doors.  Listen at them, feel for drafts, look under the crack at the bottom, etc.

Holding up your identity card, you insert the key card once more. The reader makes the same mechanical beeps, and the red beam plays over your ID card. The reader beeps in a different tone, a green light flashes and the lock is released. You gently push the door open, and peer into the room. It is empty, and looks exactly like yours.

The rhythmic sound that had steadily been growing weaker now disappears. It is very quiet.

What now?
