A little something from the TFB site..
« on: June 29, 2008, 11:30:12 pm »
Whilst browsing the Toys for Bob site I noticed that if you select the games page and keep scrolling past all their past games there's a little something there.
Some spathi like creatures who have a fondness for your mouse cursor. I found it amusing for a few moments and thought I might share it. But many of you probably already noticed this.

Hmm... I can't seem to find it... I keep scrolling past the games (in the big hallway as well as in the 'descriptions') but I don't see this creature you mention...
You wish you had a signature like mine

You know, this is, like, the third time something posts this, and the Spathi weren't so happy the first time...

I see now that it was posted on UQM... long time ago but I don't visit UQM very much, if at all.I tend stay away from it, it's to much like the competition or something.

It's not really the competition.

UQM provides a space for those who take SC way too seriously.  SCDB provides a space for folks who like SC too but basically just come back to shoot the breeze. As such it has only 6 over-full-time members, plus a few like me who like to pop in every now and again to annoy you.

If I want to keep up with SC stuff I go to UQM forum. If I want to read Sedodes abuse Jaychant I come here :)

I am afraid to say that UQM has become the SC discussion forum. Saying UQM is a competitor is akin to....dammit I can't think of a colourful analogy - little help?

Here I go hijacking the topic again. My bad!

But often it is, as in it's not a very friendly forum (that's why jaychant was more comfortable here, even though he complained about us being off-topic). There's the real difference. In other words, UQMF has more jerks :-X

UQMF does what it does well, but if there's something genuinely interesting SC-wise, it shows up here, we have better quality control.

Actually, Dancing Fungus' work is the best thing to come out of UQMF recently ;D

Hogwash. Quality control from UQMF got rid of this place's jaychant problem. The other forum has way more activity and the signal-to-noise ratio is decent, at least within the confines of General Discussion. Starbase Cafe... uh, yeah.

Yes, but the posters here are more interesting :-*

???

Scott got rid of our jaychant problem, at Sedodes's and my request.  None of the three of us frequent the UQMF.

Sedodes didn't solve the jaychant problem, where did you get that idea from? I see you're quick to shift the credit on to him even after he insulted you over and over.

Wait, what? Oh, there's a permaban mentioned in that moderator thread now. That's news to me. I thought he just exploded his own account again. I still think you're all horribly indecisive.

How do I respond to this without degrading anyone? Oh, I know. A lack of activity isn't interesting.

Shouldn't you keep an eye on the competition? To make sure that you're always one step ahead and stuff?

Ah, this whole "UQM" thing is just a flash in the pan.  It'll blow over any day now.   ;)

Yes a very big one though, a huge engulfing pan..

Well I was thinking about this the last few days, why is UQMF so much more active? cause nothing much really happens here, and UQM grabbed everybody's attention when it started up and PNF really hasn't had any reason for people to come back after having left. Also allot of people found out about UQM and joined there, not knowing anything about PNF or simply choosing to ignore it cause nothing was going on. So I need to setup a goal plan to get more visitors.

My SuPeR 1337 plan to save pnf
1. Setup a plan where people get paid to visit
2. bribe people with "favors"
3. Give away free stuff
4. Make fake posts about a the "new sc game"
5. Produce fake pictures of the "new sc game"
6. Claim to be done XR and have links to it that never seem to work
7. Pretend to be important person working on the "new sc game"

Hmm on second thought I don't think any of these are really "viable"   Yeh I know lame... ::)

But seriously I'm open to ideas on how to get attention drawn back to PNF and SCDB
