[Valaggar Redux]

Well, I was sitting there and thinking, "Oh how cheesy it is to use words ending in "-ar" in an attempt to sound more exotic - and how often is this done, too". Then I realized that my very username ended in "-ar" (remember its origin?), so I decided to change it.
(Also, the "-gah" ending has the added benefit of being a fitting onomatopoeia for the sound many people probably produce upon reading certain posts of mine)

Now, it's not like "Valaggah" sounds much less cheesy ("-ah" is abused too!), but the "gah" part makes it worth it, anyway.

Looks like SCDB has continued to outpost UQM. in the six months to December the score was 4833 to 1989.

I blame lukipela for all his role playing games.

I think sole responsibility lies with ABKS for the effect this year, so yeah, Luki is responsible. I'm sure he doesn't mind.

Yeah, the RPGs are pretty cool. Hope it doesn't go to his head though. I think posting is up in all parts of the forum, relative to a couple years ago - it was looking pretty dire there for a while.

I'm not so sure. ABKS ended up at around 500 posts or so. BEL grossed well over a thousand all told, so my effect should have pushed UQMF ahead if that was the only thing. I think looking at the last four months says a lot. The SCDB has outperformed the UQMF every month. The first two can be chalked up to chatty new people, and TUM but November and December just saw a lot more happening here without any special causes.

It would seem that the UQMF slow down is continuing, while the SCDB has been slightly rejuvenated and is now producing a lot more a month than just one year ago. But, easy come easy go... Especially if a new UQM release appears with the promised improved moddability.

My head was pretty inflated before having successful RPGs, becoming a mod and PNF deputy  and singlehandedly rejuvenating SC fandom as we know it. What makes you think I'd change?

Seriously though, while I enjoy doing this stuff I don't see it as any great art. Quite the opposite in fact.

I don’t think anyone would argue that there is a whole lot more noise that goes on in this place than UQM. I don’t say that’s a bad thing, but the off topic section is far more frequented than other parts whereas in UQM it’s the other way round. Lets put it down to “happy community where members like to share their feelings”. It’s all business over at UQM.

Lets put it down to “happy community where members like to share their feelings”. It’s all business over at UQM.

I think the old argument was the opposite, we had a better signal to noise ratio here when it came to SC, as UQM was big, busy and attracted all the loopy ones.
