Eternal Doctrine part III

Post by Tiberian » Fri Sep 30, 2016 6:59 pm

Finally.

It took me a lot longer than the previous parts, but at least the rumors of the project's death are now proven to be greatly exaggerated.

I hope you all like reading this part as much as I liked writing it.

Excellent work. Well done!
Looking forward to part IV.

That's a very nice timing too, as it's New Years holiday here.

That was a devastatingly short read :( Want more!

My thoughts of this part, obscured for spoilerness:
1) Even though it was very engaging to read, just like previous parts, I've noticed the feeling was as if a different person has written this part.
Nothing to put my finger on, just a feeling.

2) The "R/L" of Tanaka was kind of off for me, given the in-game quotes didn't do that. The Japanese parallel was clear enough, I think.
On related note, don't remember if on these forums or at the other one, there was a WTF kind of thread deeming Shofixti representation "racist" :)

3) The escape sequence was high on deus-ex-machina and too specific a beverage. The vending machine could have been scavenged from defeated ships during the war, but then the payment system should have been contemporary.

I appreciate your thoughts, Alvarin.

I can only assure you that the same person has written all the parts. There might be a different feeling simply because there was so much time between writing parts II and III. I wrote almost all of part III this summer while part II was finished in August 2015 if my memory doesn't fail me. I only wish I had more spare time... I wouldn't mind being a full-time novelist.

Most likely. Had enough time to have the memories from the novel interlace with my old experiences to create a hybrid of sorts...

There is Patreon, but considering Nordic prices of living and unknown potential backer pool, probably not enough for full time.
