The Contest of Now and Almost for Never!

Ahh, vague omens and mysterious portents. Tangled webs of fate intertwined with the branches of destiny, blown by the capricious winds of happenstance. News, news....uh, actually there is some news!

The Contest of Now and Almost for Never!

Post by Scott Irving » Thu Apr 30, 2015 5:17 am

It's finally contest time folks as I've finally gotten off my butt and made it happen

So Here's the details.

I'll be accepting submissions for Star Control fan "content", I use the word Content as it was difficult to simply say art, some want to do music for instance. So if your not sure your submission will or would fall under "content" simply ask. Submission deadline will be May 30th - just over a month away. ill host the submissions on a public google drive, unless otherwise hosted. Voting will start June 1 and close on June 15th* and winner will be announced soon after. *this date maybe extended if voter turn out is low. I've hosted the poll on a 3rd party website to allow more control and so that non forum members are able to vote as well, so that means you lurkers. Now lastly if you didn't know, the prize is some fan content it's self, but not just any fan content, a sealed copy of our own Tiberian's book, Groombridge Log. I look forward to some no doubt excellent submissions, cheers Hunams!

Er... well, I'm not exactly sure whether one is supposed to ask their questions here or in the "old" thread. I'll do it here; correct me if I'm wrong.

Either way, I was just wondering a few quick things.

1. Crossovers? - Essentially, suppose that one were to write fanfiction, can it be a so-called crossover, where Star Control is mixed with something else, such as, for example, Portal? Have not written anything to completion yet, but I was wondering if the path even exists in the first place.

2. Multiple submissions? - As a second question, I would like to know whether one may release more than one submission into the contest, or if we are limited to one per person. Again, just trying to figure out which paths are open.

I can't speak as an authority, but judging from the earlier discussion I am sure that everything related to Star Control is accepted. Go ahead and submit your crossover. Also, the more submissions the merrier. I doubt we'll have a problem with too many submissions.

Exactly. I don't think we need to be to picky here and besides crossovers can be pretty cool. reminds me I really should look to "The Doctor" vs Borg crossovers..

Would the 3D model I created of the vindicator count, made it for the 3d printer for my design class, CAD format. also made a earthling crusier and a yehat ship.

At first glance, I couldn't see why not!

Everything counts as long as it's related to Star Control.

3D modeling is not even a long shot. It is definitely art.

Oooooh crap. I'm only halfway on writing my fic (I blame school, which ambushed me with, cumulatively, half a dozen tests/tasks this past week) and I've only got today + tomorrow to finish writing it.
Err... suppose, theoretically, that one would come rushing in on the 31:st, would it still be applicable for participation or would I be screwed? The latter alternative I suppose would mean an all-nighter tonight.

I've got a couple ideas, but life has mauled me for a few weeks.

Edit: got it in on the 30th early. First version had a substantial problem, sent an amended version.

If there aren't enough submissions, I support there being an extension.
