Hello all, I'm new here and looking forward to meeting some *Happy Campers* :D

With so many games today having some sort of achievement system, I thought up a bunch of possible achievements for Star Control II. From some expected ones, to ones that probably defy common sense...

Obnoxious Human – Insult or threaten every possible alien race

Precursor Tracker– Find all 10 rainbow worlds

Great Teacher – Ally with the Thraddash

Call 1-500-PKUNK – Get the Clear Spindle

Added to the Ledger of Hatred – Retrieve the Rosy Sphere

Latest and Greatest – Buy ALL technology from the Melnorme

Extra! Extra! – Buy ALL information from the Melnorme

Customer of the Decade– buy EVERYTHING (information, technology, and fuel) from the Melnorme

Dwe the Dilrats… – Trick the Ilwrath into attacking the Thraddash

Unworthy Prey Indeed – Get the VUX to finally accept your apology

Savior of Frungy – Save the Zot-Foq-Pik from the Kor-Ah

Rat Babies Galore – Save the Shofixti

Boo! – Find both the Umgah and Burxiverse casters

Collect them all! – Have every possible alien ship in your fleet at least once

Analysis Compete – Have the space station scientists examine all possible cargo

I’m so lonely… - Never meet Fwiffo

BFF – Have Fwiffo with you for the entire game

WE DON’T COME IN PEACE – eliminate the probes

Hollow Victory – Destroy the Sa-Matra after the Kor-Ah have killed all other alien races

Near Death Experience – Destroy the Sa-Matra after the Kor-Ah have started their Death March, but before they’ve killed any aliens

Don’t fear the Reaper – Destroy the Sa-Matra before the Kor-Ah can even start their Death March

Payback! – Destroy an Umgah Drone with a Spathi Eluder in either the main game or Super-Melee

Long and Winding Space – NEVER use the Arilou portal maker

Crystals are a Captain’s best friend – Destroy the Sa-Matra using only Chmmr Avatars

Unscrupulous Hero – Sell some of your crew to the Druuge

I told ya don't touch that darn thing! – Activate the Utwig Bomb

The Words – Have both the Ur-Quan Kzer-za and the Ur-Quan Kor-ah tell you the tragic tale of their species

Die old man, die! – Defeat a Druuge Mauler with an Utwig Jugger in the main game or in Super-Melee

Stronger than a computer – Defeat an Awesome Computer in Super-Melee

Stronger than a well-armed computer – defeat an Awesome Computer who has a roster filled with Ur-Quan Dreadnaughts and Chmmr Avatars

Ach Captain! I’m givin’ her all she’s got! – Run out of fuel in hyperspace

Good with a side of butter – Defeat a Mycon Podship with a Syreen Penetrator in the main game or Super Melee

Marshmallow Heaven – Win 5 battles with an armada made only out of Syreen Penetrators

Honor regained – Win 5 battles with an armada made only out of Yehat Terminators

KAIYEEEEEE!!! - Win 5 battles with an armada made only out of Shofixti Scouts

We can be pretty nasty! - Win 5 battles with an armada made only out of Zoq-Fot-Pik Stingers

Time to *Play*! - Win 5 battles with an armada made only out of Orz Nemesis'

Pale-skinned freaks - Win 5 battles with an armada made only out of Arilou Skiffs

The rosy sphere achievement is misnamed. That would be for getting the utwig bomb.

So close - fly through the location of the naturally occurring portal within one day of its closing before ever entering quasispace

What did you need me for anyway? - defeat the Kohr-Ah attacking the Zoq-Fot-Pik homeworld with only stingers.

You need the main ship to do so.
Customer of the Decade– buy EVERYTHING (information, technology, and fuel) from the Melnorme
I don't think Melnorme run out of fuel to sell.

Can have an achievement for loosing less than 50 crew in the entire game.
Leaving no resource unclaimed in 50 fuel points radius of Sol (mineral and bio).
Accumulating some HUGE amount of unspent RUs.
Getting the Druuge to fill your ship with fuel... The whole 16 high-eff tanks worth of it.
Dying to the first probe met.
Killing over 500 ships in a single game, not counting homeworlds and other infinite ship places.
Winning the game without ever talking to Melnorme.
Winning the game without talking to ANY alien (bar Dnyarri and Chmmr).
Win the game without ever wisitig the Earth starbase (other than when installing the bomb).
Use ONLY Earthling cruisers and Vindicator to win the game (you can have other ships in fleet).
To be angry is to punish yourself for the errors of others.

I defeated the fleet of Kzer-za and Kohr-ah ships orbiting the Samatra.

I never was able to defeat the samatra defenses with only umgahs or Zot Fot Piks. Defeating the SaMatra with only shofixtis is a LOT of fun.

I probably should have been more specific on teh Melnorme one, you have to have bought fuel form them at least ONCE. For teh Chmmr Avatar one, I forgot you had to use the Vindicator for the finishing blow :oops:

Well, you'd have to talk to the Druuge, Thraddash and Pkunk for the parts of the Ultron. And the Supox to fix it. You'd also need to talk to the Orz for the Taalo shield. I'm pretty sure you'd have to talk to the Ilwrath to access the Chmmr, as well as the Umgah to talk to the Dnyarri. You'd need to talk to the Mycon to get the Sun Device. You need to talk to the Kzer-za at the Sa-Matra. Also, you'd need to talk to the Utwig to get the bomb.


So, the ones you could not meet are: the Arilou, the Kohr-ah, the Earthlings, the Shofixti, the Spathi, the Syreen, the Yehat and the Vux.

Problem with achievements like that is that they spoil the game. You could do it Pokemon Black/White 2 style, where at any time you have access to some hints about what you can do for achievements, and then only reveal the full descriptions and names afterwards.
