It has been a long time and allot of work with just two of us on the project but we are finally ready to release another melee demo. We would love to get the feedback of the SC community. I just finished uploading the Windows demo. The MAC version will be online later today. To get the download go here:

Although the melee undergoes fairly constant tweaking, it is very close to how it will appear in the full game. The bulk of our focus these many months has been on UI, story mode, art and music, save/load functionality, and building the physical world of Space Taxi Adventure. While all of these things are quite far along, the time table for releasing the full game is anyone's guess. We hope to have a playable demo of story mode out this year.

I'm the other half of the development team for Space Taxi Adventure. We're really excited to finally be able to give another demo of what we've got so far!

I just uploaded the Mac version of our melee demo.

We can't wait to show you what we have for the story mode as well, but a lot more work needs to be done. As Zach (PatronGOP) said previously, the melee mode has been continually tweaked over the last couple years. But we've made tremendous progress on other aspects of the game, we're just not ready to show them yet.

Quick note: Just found a single line bug in the demo that made Player vs. Player non-functional and instead dumped you into (empty) hyperspace. I just uploaded the fixed version.

I have tried, three times now, to download the demo. Each time it says the zip is corrupted. Filesize was 23.8Mb.

You're trying to DL the windows version, correct?

What operating system are you using? What browser are you using? What are you using to try and uncompress the .zip?

I was able to successfully DL, unpack, and play the demo on Windows 7, using IE and the built-in win zip functionality.

File size should be 28.8. I am also running Firefox on XP and it is working fine. The newest upload was 3:14 EST today (June 14th). Give it a try again and let us know. Is anyone else having an issue?

Edit: Note that the zip file was created using 7-zip.

After 3 more tries it finished download completly and unpacked. Still no luck, though - it fails to start, giving an error "the specified mode is not supported by this device"

That is being caused by the resolution. The game runs in 1280x768 (32). The message means your graphics card doesn't support that res in full screen. I'm uploading a patch to run the game in windowed mode for just that.

OK, patch is up. Download the file then copy it to ~/STA/game/

UPDATE:
Just built a function to auto detect full screen support. The newest Windows download does not need to be patched. If you downloaded prior to 6:45 EST, the current patch download will add the auto-detect functionality.
