In my continued effort to make an HD mod of Ur-Quan Masters... I must tackle some really some difficult tasks. One is re-imagining Commander Hayes. This is quite tough for me. Too realistic, and he doesn't look like Hayes anymore. Too much like the original and it just doesn't look very good. As you can see, I've probably made him older than some of you imagine. I just can't see a guy in charge of 2,000 people being really young. Keep in mind, this is an early work in progress, but I just wanted to see if you guys think I'm on the right track. I've got a long way to go before I'm satisfied with it.

I think you're on the right track, yes. You're walking a fine line, but it's not bad at all.

I didn't imagine him as being very young, anyway. Don't be afraid to make him look a bit more grizzled/manly by adding some more distinct character lines to his face... he currently kinda looks like he's been taking some botox. ;)

Really good!
Just an idea - maybe add some gray hair on the sides? I will not make him look older, but more... dignified?

He looks a bit friendlier in your version than in the original :). But still a good start, you might want to make him have a more weathered face, atleast that's how I imagined him, like a war veteran now stationed on that starbase :).
Also keep in mind that his pose is supposedly drawn from Fred Ford, why not get some inspiration for his face from his aswell? :P

Really? I'd need a picture of him. Is there one around?

Wow. Okay. More "weathered". I'll need his basic features first. Yes, his eyes are a bit off, aren't they? That was me pulling, stretching, and moving them to match the originals dimensions more. I plan to fix that. Don't worry. :)

Really? Team Coco? :D Sorta I guess:)

Thanks for the input guys! Appreciate it.

On the topic of Hayes's age, I've never ever imagined him younger then 34 so an aged and experienced war veteran look would be great on Haye's. I always though his eyes looked a bit funny on the original, so I'm glad that you put plenty of emphasis on the eyes in your HD version!

A more weathered, older Hayes. More realistic. Still a work in progress.... the left side of his face is giving me issues. But needed the break. :)
