Re: Second Annual UQM Tournament
I never saw the point of this ruleset. It sounds like a less elegant "random ship selection". One day with this rule shouldn't be so bad, though. I'll try to make it.AmonX wrote:- Standard latin reading order for picking ships- pick ships left to right along the top line, then left to right along the bottom line in that order.
Re: Second Annual UQM Tournament
You can blame oldlaptop or gekko for that one
I had fun playing it and made for some interesting match ups. I wanted to do random but that wasn't enforceable so I went with left to right.

Re: Second Annual UQM Tournament
Random is semi-enforceable. If someone spends more than a second on the ship selection page and picks a hard counter to what you're playing, they're probably cheating.AmonX wrote:I wanted to do random but that wasn't enforceable so I went with left to right.
Re: Second Annual UQM Tournament
I think this is a more interesting random tournament. You have some choice in what you play at what points of the game while still being forced to matches you would not usually want to play. Placing 30 pointers to the end ensures you have a strong ship at the end and it's more likely your enemy has already wasted his counters. Someone said it moves the strategy from ship picking to fleet building.
I'm not sure about 30 point ships though - I did fine and I was facing oldlaptop with Chmmr and Kohr-Ah as his last two ships, twice, but this might result in stomps for the new players.

I usually use that time to make comments about the previous battleShiver wrote:Random is semi-enforceable. If someone spends more than a second on the ship selection page and picks a hard counter to what you're playing, they're probably cheating.

Re: Second Annual UQM Tournament
Well for the longest time the topic at #uqm-arena mentioned the Tournament on Sept 9th 2012. This new Tournament is held a year later on the first Saturday after labour day weekend. Thus the second annual UQM Tournament.
