Star-Catalog Project

Post by Maloo Oture » Sat Sep 15, 2012 1:50 pm

I've long desired to catalog the stars of the SC2 star map. Maybe just for fun or maybe it could be used for fanfics, mods, and walkthroughs...

My basic idea is to create a list providing information on the star, it's coordinates, color, size, number of planets and their types, planet distances from the star, the existence of biology, and the existence of tech.

Because of the vast number of stars on the map, however, this could take some time. So before starting this huge undertaking on my own, I wanted to open the project to the community to see if anyone would like to be involved.

It will basically be this: http://wiki.uqm.stack.nl/List_of_stars

But it'll include the planets for each system.

Oh, yeah. That one is nice...

But it lacks a few things... Like what Types of planets and where biology is located...

Right. But that one still lacks some things.

There's a link on that page to http://wiki.uqm.stack.nl/script/images/ ... tabase.zip, a downloadable file containing the raw planetary data I extracted from the game in CSV form, which has everything except for the presence of special plot elements. There's a separate list of those at http://wiki.uqm.stack.nl/List_of_places_of_interest.
