Star Control Project 6014 Plot Ideas And IPhone Discussion

Ok, it's great to see you guys already hard at work on the sequel, I've downloaded it and it's fantastic!

I arrived on Unzervault and was sad to see the message from Talana, heh heh.
Then I saw people are looking for some SC2 ideas, so here are a few ideas on alien races and plots or sub-plots of my own:

1. What about bringing back the Androsyn, or exploring another rip in the fabric of space where they were *taken*?
This could perhaps spawn a whole new set of devices required to gain access to this reality, where the Explorer is marooned for a year. During this time, and working with surviving Androsyn, the player would have to regain access to normal space/time to return to Vela before some catastrophic disaster becomes of Talana and your new homeworld, Unzervault.

2. It would be great to see the Supox and Utwig become genetically combined to a new race. Since the Utwig are prone to suicidal tendencies and the Supox are nothing more than hyper-positive semi-intelligent broccoli (tasty with cheese sauce), this hybrid race would solve personality deficits in each race. Similar to the creation of the Chmmr perhaps but could be very comedic. A new ship could of course be created this way.

3. Since you are already making use of the Imperial Star Destroyer, it would be fun to explore the player's family history. Perhaps a father who has been assimilated by another alien race? Or has acquired Jedi like powers that are crucial to the future survival of the Alliance of Free Stars? Hmm...

4. A new alien race with a ship that creates a force field much like the magic shield weapon in the game "Willow". Any enemies caught in this field are severely damaged, and would pose a problem for large battle cruisers like the Chmmr Avatar which require close range to do any damage. The new ship could be a juggernaut but could be prone to smaller enemies with long range weaponry, or with invaders that can survive the shield damage (ie. Orz).

5. A sinister plot following the motivations of the Melnorme is not only interesting, but demanded! What on earth could they need that bio data for, hmmm? I think it's to determine each race's weakness! And that purple color change? I think it's assessing YOUR DATA, as you gain more knowledge and abilities! And why does it cost like 12,000,000 bio credits to understand why that color change occurs?? Because by Melnorme calculations that is exactly the equivalent value of the bio data which would be required to take over the entire universe, THAT'S WHY!

6. A surviving Taalo colony SOMEWHERE, in some region of space yet unexplored, or trapped within another reality or space/time region. Perhaps it is the Taalo (or even the Gg) which provide the key advice or device to aid the Androsyn and the player to modify the Explorer to return (in comment 1)...

These are just a few ideas I made while eating Sugar Crisp as I sat at my computer on Sunday Morning. I'm a noob on these forums, and you guys may have already planned out the entire storyline. In any case, I'm looking forward to seeing the final product!

Oh! and the IPhone platform for both SC2 and 6014 would be SO DAMN EASY TO PLAY. Very few buttons on SC2 means it's very easy to re-create on a mobile device. You could make use of the menu qualities of the game "Osmos" where you touch the screen with 3 fingers at once on the iphone to access any game menus (ie. Starmap, Navigate, etc). I really hope they get on this project, it could provide massive funding and a new fan base for this amazing gaming universe. Apps which sell for 2-3 dollars a pop, and are well advertised would quickly jump to the top of the app download list, and SC2 still has a pretty dedicated following!

Gidday Cam,

I'm afraid that the time for tossing around new plot ideas has passed. The team has mapped out the story for the most part. However, you may be encouraged to know that there are some similarities with the plot and a few of your suggestions :)

Actually, I'm super happy the story is done. Now it can all be a surprise!
Thanks I'm really impressed with the upgrades to graphics and look forward to a well produced IPhone app in this format!

Seriously though, if you guys need ideas for the whole episode concept, or any help at all please let me know

I was wondering also about using the old idea of "Precursor Technology Upgrades" from StarCon 1....
Things to find on certain "Precursor" Colony worlds with upgrades for the Discovery?

Unless this changed, the team does NOT want the Discovery to be powerfull ship that will do the fighting - it only needs to be able to survive a bit. The escorts will do all of the actual fighting.

Is the discovery the main ship in the demo?

Hmm, I guess the team could still allow upgrades like in STARCON1 for the ships in your fleet. Would be an interesting revivial of the first game in the series, and don't the Melnorme hint at ship upgrades in the demo?
