Live Star Control tournament in Texas

Ahh, vague omens and mysterious portents. Tangled webs of fate intertwined with the branches of destiny, blown by the capricious winds of happenstance. News, news....uh, actually there is some news!

Depends on how much people abuse shofixti, doesn't it?

We had a very large dupes tournament in #uqm-arena with rampant Shofixti play and that wasn't really a deal breaker. But now I'm wondering how 3DO SC2 decides first and second ship selection after a Glory Device kill.

It was a fun idea to entertain but I've decided not to go. Airfare, etc. I hope this tournament goes well.

Looking at the thread on the UQM forum it looks like they got 14 players. A massive amount! One of the few times I've wished I lived in Texas...

Is the organiser going to drop by here?

Sorry about taking so long to pop in here to say anything. I'm the organizer of the tournament.

Yes, the tournament was fantastic! Not as many people as I was hoping but still crazy awesome. :) Maybe it was better that we had fewer entries though as the tournament with just 14 entries took two and a half hours to complete!!! Part of the reason for not posting here was due to editing all the video footage we recorded at the event. We got game source footage, player footage, and exit interviews with all the entries. Good stuff!

I just finished putting all the matches together into a tournament reel. Hopefully I'll have it up soon for all to view but as I mentioned before...it's two and a half hours long. :) I might have to split it up into many smaller videos for youtube or the like. As soon as I get the exit interviews put together as well I'll be sending copies over to Toys for Bob so they can view it all and hopefully use some of it for their efforts to get the next Star Control project underway.

As soon as I have the links ready I'll post them here and at the Urquan Masters forum for all.

Thanks again for all the help from you guys!

Cool! Thanks for posting these. I knew who the winner was in advance before watching, but even if I hadn't it would have been obvious after seeing him counter Kohr-Ah with Utwig. I can see all the videos aren't quite up yet so I'll come back with more comments later.

Of course let me know what you think either here or on YouTube! In parts 9 and 10 I have my exhibition match with the winner Gabe. I'm the skinny white dude wearing the Lego Indiana Jones shirt. O0-smf I thought I did alright but either way...it was a blast! Thanks for all of your support in this! I'll post any results from my communications with Toys for Bob concerning what they think of the video, interview opinions, or results with Activision!
