On the first day of Christmas...

Ahh, vague omens and mysterious portents. Tangled webs of fate intertwined with the branches of destiny, blown by the capricious winds of happenstance. News, news....uh, actually there is some news!

Well, commons also includes stuff like very powerful acids, water, breathable gases, degenerate matter, organics... It's pretty much a crapshoot whether it's hazardous or harmless, really.

These kind of derails from innocent jokes are something that I love about this place.

Hmm, another series of Christmas themed artwork? Thats one "YESSSSS" by M.Bison!

Not only that, but my new favorite StarControl Artist, Saria, is doing the illustrating? Can't have one over-enthusiastic "YESSSS" without a second, eh?

Degenerate matter is exotic. Powerful acids should be corrosive... but you're right, hydrochloric and hydrocyanic acids are both common.
dangerous commons: 20/ 38
hydrogen, lithium, arsenic, phosphorus, ozone, free radicals, carbon monoxide and dioxide, ammonia, methane, sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, hydrocyanic acid, formic acid, phosphoric acid, formaldehyde, cyanoacetylene, methanol, 'radioactives', nitric acid; and who knows what the 'carbon compounds' and 'calcium compounds' are.

non-dangerous corrosives: 3/ 6
oxygen (except at high pressures)
sulfur
iodine

So yes, commons are slightly more dangerous, on average, than corrosives.

I was going to say that sulphur isn't exactly healthy, but apparently I'm wrong according to Wikipedia. I mostly encounter H2S, and that's real nasty.

I thought the captain was turning into Wolverine in the second panel until I looked back at the first . . .

Heh, the word is something of a battleground here. Sulphur rules except in scientific contexts - from when I started learning science to undergrad chem lectures, sulfur the wrong spelling was formally correct; as if the nasty invader had gained a foothold :o So I get excited whenever I see sulphur, especially so when it's used by such an authority on English as Luki :geek:
