The official annoucement of the lawsuit settlement was made...

Ahh, vague omens and mysterious portents. Tangled webs of fate intertwined with the branches of destiny, blown by the capricious winds of happenstance. News, news....uh, actually there is some news!

Hmmm... I'd have much rather seen Stardock lose hard.

As if the law would ever dispense any actual justice though! It's just a tool to serve the rich and powerful and keep everyone else down. Corporate biased nonsense that can tie you up for years and then just take everything from you even when you're in the right. Why anyone supports the law is a mystery to me, but I'll chalk it up to fear and ignorance. (And lack of solidarity for that matter.)

Still if F&P are happy with it, more power to them. Seems the path of least resistance to me. But most people just want to live their lives. Most people have no fighting spirit. But even if they do, the law's no help to regular people. And honestly? More proof here. In a just system, you wouldn't have to settle with people who are WRONG! Might sound sour on what might be meant to be some sort of happy announcement, but what's true's true.

Honestly, I think this entire affair's soured me on this entire franchise at this point. Fond memories of the past will remain, but I think I lost all interest in the future. It just got a sour taste to it now, and within those twenty five years, I'd prefer my own theories about SC2's story to what even the original writers could write anyway.

May Stardock go bankrupt and may Wardell end up in the gutter where he belongs. And as for the rest, this franchise's been dead so long, it might as well remain so and belong to the fans now.

Honestly... hearing how they settled it gave me hope for the future in general. Just think of this... a legal argument settled by people actually taking the time to talk to eachother like human beings? And ending with both parties satisfied and getting what they want? In this day and age? It's a miracle!

Yeah, I'm glad they managed to finally be adults about it. Although it took way too much time and legal jumbo before they got to that point, at least it didn't dissolve further. It will still take time before I'm willing to involve myself with any of the games, but I'm not irrevocably put off by either. So maybe I still personally think Brad was a wee bit more guilty of the mess than F&P were, but at least it resolved amicably and in the end, it's enough.

I didn't expect things to recover like this at such a late stage, but I'm glad it was resolved like it was nonetheless.

Well, Brad Wardell always said to call and talk directly.
This settlement also notes that this was proposed by Brad Wardellquite a while ago, and now that Fred took him up on this offer, the dispute got settled....

Which definitely shows that Fred and Paul did not take the original offer that seriously, and how this led to a escalation. (But seeing how Brad Wardell offered his "help" to the UQM community and how the paper and the explanation differed from each other, I would've been wary of calling someone and talk directly when he's encroaching on my property).

TFB and Stardock were already told to quit the lawsuit last year...

In a sense they only wasted money and fandom fun by carrying on way longer than they should :)

Sure, he said it, but his proposal for settlement was so much worse than what either side ended up getting in the end that it made it seem like a bad idea.

When can we expect the first Star Control Mead and Honey to hit the webshop shelves?
