What kind of music are you into?

Post by Nuclear »

I was thinking we already had a thread like this, but I can't find it + I'm assuming our musical preferences would have change at least a bit from the time that thread was made.

I am, for the most part, a connoisseur of ghetto electronic music, especially 90's Eurodance. I also enjoy Trance, House, Psychotrance, Dark Sci, Happy Hardcore, Space Disco, Chiptunes, Game Soundtrack, and a bit of classic Rock here and there.

Some of my favorite bands/groups/projects and my favorite song by them include

E-Type: Set the World on Fire
Masterboy: Feel the Heat of the Night/Generation of Love
2 Unlimited: Let the Beat Control your body
X-Perience: A Neverending Dream
Pandora: Trust Me
Basic Element: The Ride
E-Rotic: Max, don't have Sex with your Ex
Technotronic: Move it to the Rhythm
Milk Inc: Storm
Magic Affair: Omen III
Cardenia: Passion
Antares: Ride on a Meteorite
Imperio: Veni Vidi Vici
Kraftwerk: We are the Robots
Ganymed: Takes me Higher
Rush: Spirit of Radio

And just in case you are for whatever reason, unaware of the wonder that is Eurodance, it can basically be described as an Electronic genre popular in the 90's featuring a disco beat, techno instrument, a female vocalist and {usually} a rapper. Makes for great corny, budget music videos

I had a think about the rock the Rock and Roll I listen to and realised it was mostly hard rock. The list got a bit long (if I'm feeling industrious I'll post it up later) but there was an awful lot of AC/DC. Going back to earlier hard rock it was generally Steppenwolf.

In so far as Eurodance goes you'll find me listening to something similar to these two compilations:
  • NonStop Mixed By SGSonic - Super Eurobeat Vol 170 Super Anniversary NonStop Mix 2006 Disc 2(The New Legend of SEB Top 50)
NonStop Mixed By YCO - Super Eurobeat Vol 170 Super Anniversary NonStop Mix 2006 Disc 1(The Legend of SEB Top 50)
'fraid you'll have to do a bit of googling to find them. I couldn't on youtube.

Practically if you want to know what I'm listening to at any given time it's a Commodore 64 tune from http://remix.kwed.org/ - for you youngsters that's kinda like chip tunes remixed to be *not* chip tunes.
Sort by rating and download a few of the first page items - you'll enjoy it.
Right now I'm listening to:
  • CityBomber - PsytroniKateZoid remix
Logical - Level 3 (ZnL Mix)
I tend to listen to everything (except Jazz) so this is hard to quantify.

I too think we had a thread like this, but can't seem to find it either.

I'm up for anything melodic with less focus on the rhythm. My argument for music is that it should tell a story with the words of melody. This also means that the music is just fine without lyrics. A masterful composition should be able to deliver some kind of message even without someone using human words for doing so.

As of late I've been more to power metal again. Been also going to a place by the riverside to listen some live jazz as well as enjoying an occasional guitar strummer on the streets. Got some of the Two Steps From Hell albums (soundtrack / trailer music) which has been quite interesting, and also added more classic hard rock in my playlist. Been less interested in true classical music as of late.

Primarily classical music, centered on the romantic era, but including modern.

Prokofiev, Mahler, Sibelius.

Also, video game remixes. Listening to Chrono Trigger - Time Management right now.

This.

Classical/orchestral - Tchaikovsky, Bach, Ravel, Rachmaninov plus others. Game tracks and remixes.

Prog rock like Dream Theater.

Non-verbal stuff like Four Tet.

Well, I've been listening to Anna Nalick, who's an American singer-songwriter. I love her stuff, find that she is good at invoking an emotion in me, which I think music should do.

I've also been listening to Scarborough Fair non-stop, because I'm teaching myself it on the Viola (which I play).

ouch :D

My music taste is really varied, I can listen to anything except R&B, though my general taste tends more towards rock and metal.

My favourite band of all time is The Gathering.

Recently I've been listening to the new album of Garbage.

The bass drops create vibrations that help break down villainous soap scum on the molecular level! Science! ^-^-smf

Here's some more eurodance just to pad out this post.
