Welcome to my Brand New Game Show!! As you may have already figured out, it’s called “Ask A Mod” and I’m your host, The Troglodyte!

“How do I play ‘Ask a Mod’?” is probably what you’re asking yourself, and the answer is really simple… You are allowed to present any, and I mean ANY, burning question within your mind and ask it to our magnificent SCDB moderators, and, if you’re very lucky and if (and only if) any of the moderators feel like answering your question, then I suppose they would do so, and if not… well, I guess then you’re outta luck. I mean, after all, I can’t actually force them to answer your questions, and I’m no mod, I’m just the host, so according to the rules I can’t answer it for you.

“And what do I win if they do answer my question?” is undoubtedly your next question. Well, besides winning the foreknowledge that I will guarantee an unseen smile from myself upon reviewing any responses, you will also win… (drumroll) … the answer to your question. Duh!

(Disclaimer: The views and opinions reflected by the host, guests, moderators and/or contestants DO necessarily, automatically and irrevocably reflect one hundred percent the exact and precise opinions of The Troglodyte, and The Troglodyte should therefore be held accountable and harshly judged for anything submitted by anyone at anytime for the entire duration of this game show.)

(insert commercial break)

Host: “And we’re back! Let’s bring out our first contestant! And who do we have here?”

The Troglodyte: “Hi there, my name is The Troglodyte.”

Host: “Welcome to the show, Mr. The Troglodyte. Do you watch the show often?”

The Troglodyte: “Uh, no. But considering I’m the very first contestant, that would stand to reason I’d think.”

Host: “That’s great! Do you have your question ready for the mods?”

The Troglodyte: “Yeah, that would be the whole point, I suppose.”

Host: “Perfect! Let’s hear it!”

The Troglodyte: “Well, I’ve always wondered… you know how moderators can edit other peoples posts and make changes here and there as they see fit?”

Host: “Is that your question?”

The Troglodyte: “No, obviously not. Whenever somebody goes back and edits their post, it shows underneath the post that it’s been edited, along with how many times it was edited, and the last time editing occurred.”

Host: “Now I’m confused.”

The Troglodyte: “Stay with me, what I wanted to know is if mods had the ability to change that part of the post if they wanted to and like say, for example, indicate that somebody’s post has been edited to say some outrageous number that it’s been edited like 55,789 times?”

Host: “Hmmm… very interesting. Any other questions Mr. The Troglodyte?”

The Troglodyte: “Why yes, I do. I also wanted to ask—”

Host: “Oh, I’m so sorry, but that’s all the time we have today! Be sure to tune in next time for ‘Ask a Mod’!”

The Troglodyte: “The whole entire show is like two minutes long.”

Host: “I blame low sponsorship.”

The answer is, that part can't be edited. We basically have the same control over your posts as you do.

Yep. But on most phpBB boards, mods can edit posts WITHOUT any note that the post has been edited appearing.
Just the counter cannot be edited without accessing the database directly.

And it looks like we have our next contestant! And who might this be?

It's likely a question of settings in the board setup done by admins.
On a different phpBB board I frequent, mods regularly forget to set a checkbox (edit by mod, reason:) when the chane their own posts.
Then the posts simply get amended, without an indication.
If they do not fill in a reason, it just gets the same marking as if I change my own posts.

And no, I do not realy have a question.
I'm just a guy who can't keep his fingers from hammering the keyboard at allt imes, even when totally uninvited.

Hmmm... this isn't really making for a great show. Remember krulle, you can ask ANYTHING!!! Anything at all, and the mods will have no other choice but to answ--- well, no other choice but to read it at least... or I guess they could ignore the entire topic altogether, but I'm thinking they will at the very least read the question. Anything krulle. Anything.

Well, as host you can be very persistent and so persuasive...

Well, if it,is anything I can ask...

I'd love to get to know them a bit better...
What are their backgrounds?

Like, mine is mechanical engineer. Specialised during my studies in plastics engineering. As general mechanical engineer I now work in the public sector.

And if the answer is of such a general nature, that's sufficient for me.

I just want to know one thing:
What did the Orz do to the Androsynth?

Surely, with the omnipotence afforded by the virtue of being a mod, answering such a query should be child's play.
