Re: Stardock Plans Reboot of Star Control

Honestly, I'm not even convinced it'd be any good. On the PLUS side, I do like the colourful graphical style of the art I've seen so far. On the other hand there was this goober diatribing about how aliens shouldn't speak english and should all absolutely be starfish aliens. (And THAT really has me ...

Re: What the Kzer-Za might do after being defeated.

Except that the Kohr-Ah have a stronger logical case! Because the Captain didn't start out even KNOWING about the Kohr-Ah. And would have quite clearly fought the Kzer-Za even if there had never been any Kohr-Ah. Also the Kzer-Za's slavering ways caused aliens to band together against them once befo...

Re: A thought on the slaveshield.

Word of God is from before TVTropes. Anyway, the slave shield extends a noticeable way out from the planet. It could snag all the solar energy that passes through the part of the shield that does not shadow the planet. Also, I think the Ur-Quan were perfectly capable of invention both during the Dn...

Re: Funny thing about the Melnorme Probe...

Well my reason for thinking the way I do about it involved the following quote from the Slylandro; The Melnorme traded it to us for data on the life in Source. They said the information was unique, and was worth oh, I don't really understand their units of exchange somthing like 10,000 Gree-dots... ...

Re: A thought on the slaveshield.

I think with the google machine being broadly available, any old term I could choose to bandy could easily be looked up if someone was interested. Or they could just ask me. I don't bite. I'm in fact quite friendly most of the time! Also Canon as a term WAY predates TV tropes (And in fact the interw...

Re: Star Control 2 Races after Star Control 2, Redux.

I think your points on the Mycon are good ones. Though I think honestly it could go either way with them. They could do what you say, they could do what I say. Both are consistent with the way the Mycon operate. Really, I DO think you bring up good points on them! But I still think mine is a bit mor...

Re: A thought on the slaveshield.

I know what headcanon is, I just wanted to point out how stupid and overused/abused that word is :P. Also, I don't think word of god is canon. Once a game is complete, anything else that is said by the creators after it is not canon, unless it's meant as a sequel to the story. Well, you know a bett...

Re: A thought on the slaveshield.

Sweet sweet power-source free nanotech!

Also known as plot-goo! Get a can now!

Heh, seriously though, it's not that important what the power source of the slaveshield is. I just thought it was a neat possible idea.

Re: The etymology of 'Unzervalt'

I'm definitely going to stick to Yiddish from someone who didn't speak/spell it fluently. (And I think that's also the OUT universe explanation!)

Also because it also matches the last name Zelnick.

Re: Funny thing about the Melnorme Probe...

Honestly, I don't think FF&PR really thought about the probe behavior much, because the program as described by the Slylandro just doesn't make any sense. There's no check to make sure that the current "target" makes sense, or anything to make sure that all behaviors happen; it just goes to the hig...
