Re: This is a picture topic

Spring is here. New oak seedlings, growing, for all the world, like grass, the result of the fall's unusually large acorn crop. Crazy things grow like weeds. http://plantmonster.net/~oldlaptop/images/oaklawn.xga.jpg Apple blossoms in one of my trees. http://plantmonster.net/~oldlaptop/images/apple.x...

Re: The Earthling Cruiser

... I would think that an awesome level AI should have more discernment and a more sound approach to maximizing the Cruiser's effectiveness. If the AI is too good, there is almost no chance for Human opponent in most cases. FF and PR3 have mentioned it in one of the latest interviews. The AI had to...

Re: The Earthling Cruiser

The AI is (as far as I remember, intentionally) bad. I don't know if such statistic exist, but one might attempt to dig up some PvP netMellee information about ships comparison. Still a hard endeavor, as the game was designed after rock-paper-scissors mechanic for combat. Earthling is important in ...

or even the UQM source, in the possible event that all the planets line up in a parabolic arc during a leap year on a Friday the 13th. There actually have been some major changes in the git snapshots in the last year, including first moves towards Lua scripting support. I'm sure the UQM devs would ...

Re: How to play StarFlight?

I has this problem and re-installed. when leaving the game, always make sure you use the save and exit option. You can only store a single save-state, so what I've been doing is copying the entire game directory (it's tiny by today's standards, so it isn't a big deal) to make additional saves, whic...

Re: I know everything about Star Control

* In Quasispace, there is a 0.05% chance that your ship will be attacked by IDF creatures every month your ship sits idle. They are very powerful, and, like Admiral Zex, they have a device that prevents you from retreating. If they kill you, a strange groaning sound effect will play, and the progra...

Re: [WIP] Star Control 1 remake

UQM (and thus the original SC2 for 3DO, we don't have source to the PC version) is written in C; originally an evil mixture of K&R C and ANSI C, it's since been cleaned up. There are remnants of SC1 in UQM code even now (I'm thinking in particular of RACES_PER_PLAYER in races.h , there may be others...

They assigned the names randomly (using traditional designations was considered a better option than using the names of past politicians); see the original SC2 map: http://www.star-control.com/files/Starmaps/01.jpg
