This is really encouraging to read. I've always held the opinion that one of the cornerstones of what allowed SC2 to be so great is that the creators didn't sacrifice fun for realism. I would say one of our cardinal beliefs is that simulation and fun do not necessarily correlate. We actually tried shields/armor in melee and battle groups during interstellar exploration and encounters. The added overhead of managing these detracted from the 'fun' rather than adding to it.
