Re: Star Control: Origins E3 trailer and PC Gamer Show Inter

Given that Star**ck is actively trying to screw over Fred and Paul, I would NEVER buy any of their stuff, like... ever. You know, I never particularly liked the 'publisher' model. I honestly never overtly liked capitalism (which sadly most people can't even tell apart from the concept of trade) to b...

Re: A thought on the slaveshield.

How so? The Milieu existed for centuries. They'd build universal plugs for their power sources sooner or later. Also technological principles are based on science. Doesn't matter of a Taalo, a Yuli or a Kzer-Za Ur-Quan looks over the science. The scientific method is the same. Also species CAN reve...

Re: What the Kzer-Za might do after being defeated.

I figured people would bring up the Kzer-Za during the death march. And I am well aware of it. Gotta say though, that gives us the Kzer-Za who are in the knowledge that the Sa-Matra, even if no longer in THEIR possession is still in UR-QUAN possession, safeguarding their symbol of Ur-Quan Dominance....

Re: Funny thing about the Melnorme Probe...

You guys are really going to town on a very minor point in a universe that is well understood to run on the Rule of Funny (to use another trope term) most of the time. I think you're both missing the bigger picture: Both the Melnorme and Slylandro are written as "lighter" races to provide a bit of ...

Re: What the Kzer-Za might do after being defeated.

Well... first off... The Kzer-Za did NOT maintain a presence on Earth. They had the Spathi and Ilwrath guard the area. And the Ilwrath left twenty years ago. Had the Kohr-Ah already arrived at that point? It seems the Kzer-Za, though I agree they would have been much more likely to crush the captain...

Re: Funny thing about the Melnorme Probe...

I think the main problem you have with my idea is that you think the Melnorme are 'the good side of capitalism.' No. The problem I see in your idea is you're assuming that everything the writers did must have a purpose. I'm looking at this from the perspective of what the writers must have been thi...

Re: Funny thing about the Melnorme Probe...

I think the main problem you have with my idea is that you think the Melnorme are 'the good side of capitalism.' (I'm not sure myself what that would even BE, since I'd have to know your definition and take on capitalism. Given such definitions define wildly and your definition is probably not mine....

Re: Daktaklakpak

Aaah, the Daks Actually... the Core Four of the Crux weren't to bad as alien designs in the Star Control setting. It's just that they where more comedic schemer sort of villains as a group, and whilst not harmless, lacked the menace and raw power of the Kohr-Ah. Also they where in a game that simply...

Re: Stardock Plans Reboot of Star Control

Honestly, I'm not even convinced it'd be any good. On the PLUS side, I do like the colourful graphical style of the art I've seen so far. On the other hand there was this goober diatribing about how aliens shouldn't speak english and should all absolutely be starfish aliens. (And THAT really has me ...
