I don't think the protagonist can be hailed as a leader. Renowned diplomat, perhaps, but nothing more. As for the plot, yeah, nothing groundbreaking, but big bad not being the real big bad is fine.

Funny enough, there is a resource named "Campfire" that is organizing tool for writing. It can hold cross-referenced maps, characters info and so on.
