Re: The Syreen Penetrator
Syreen is a good ship, at least in Melee. At 13 points, it does well against most others in its point range (undercosted Androsynth aside) and some higher. That said, online melee has shown the vanilla point values to have some problems. And if it gets going with a good crew stock, it can be pretty ...

Re: Sequels strife
It may be slow nowadays, but this is still the oldest SC site still (somewhat) active. Losing it would be a real blow to the fandom. I'm pretty sure the PNF is safe, though.

Star Control sketchbooks - From the early 90s!
https://www.dogarandkazon.com/blog/2018/3/8/all-aboard-the-starship-discovery Here we see what looks like a very early version of Fwiffo's dialog tree. If that's a super-early Spathi design (from before SC1 was finished? Or maybe Fwiffo was originally a different race), glad it was dropped! https://...

Re: About to try to beat Star Control 2...no spoilers!
Huh, I actually didn't realize it was possible to get Avatars before a certain event. So many different orders you can do things in.

Re: Sequels strife
Does this mean point 86 in the countersuit? I'm really curious as to what the specific wording there was. Me too. Whether we'll ever find out, who knows. I don't see much of a contradiction here. Stardock hasn't been making stuff in their universe, which is completely consistent with all that. Ward...

Re: Sequels strife
On the contrary. It lays out the very extensive time period during which Stardock has been communicating its understanding of its rights and intentions to Paul Reiche & Fred Ford and that Paul Reiche & Fred Ford have failed over the majority of that time to object to anything Stardock has been doin...

Re: Sequels strife
Not a lawyer, but saying it's a sequel to a game they made, fully own the IP for, and have long been closely associated with in the public eye seems defensible as fair use. (The analogy some have given on Disney getting mad if Lucas tried to make a sequel to Star Wars, by the way, is flawed because ...

Re: Sequels strife
Stardock’s claim, that the Star Control trademark has fame and respect accrued to it, is absurd. We all saw the release of Star Control 3. It was obvious where StarCon was going. I am not a Star Control fan; I’m a fan of Paul and Fred’s games. I played the hell out of Archon The Unholy War, and Sky...

Re: The Chmmr Avatar
Yes, in PvP it's the best single-ship counter for Avatar besides the Utwig. It's not a definitive win but the Druuge generally does well. As I recall, the best tactic for Chmmr is to try to pull the Druuge into the planet.

Re: The Chmmr Avatar
And had a chance of actually reaching the Syreen/Sirens if they would use a jetpack to build a bit more speed. Or a kind of tractor beam for the Syreen to pull in the hapless new crew, without actually having to fly across them. But Odysseus' Sirens also had no ropes hanging into the water so that ...
